💎 Why we love it ?

On China Golden Triangle tour you will visit the most famous cities in China – Beijing, Xian and, Shanghai. Tour includes 4 Start Hotels with breakfast, daily city tours with lunch, all entry fees, all tour guide fees, and transportation. All mall group tours depart every Saturday and Wednesday.

🏁 Tour Itinerary: China Golden Triangle Tour

Day 1 – Arrival in Beijing – Airport Pickup – Hotel Transfer

As soon as you arrive in Beijing and claim your baggage at the airport, you can meet your guide at the arrival hall. Your English-speaking guide will then accompany you to the hotel where you will be staying. Get some rest as you will head out to see the best of China during your golden triangle tour.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Beijing Wanshang or similar.

Day 2 – Forbidden City – Temple of Heaven Day Tour (B, L)

You will begin your day with a full buffet breakfast at the hotel and then head out to Tiananmen Square with the rest of the group. Not only is this square the largest square on the planet, but it is also an important part of Chines history. Then, we will take you to another piece of Chinese history, which is the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City used to be an Imperial palace that dates back to the Ming dynasty. Once we finish our visit to this magnificent palace, it is time for lunch, and right after lunch, the Temple of Heaven. This temple is very large and is considered one of the most important places of worship in China, as you will soon discover! There will also be a Chinese Kung Fu Show in the evening and before going back to the hotel.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Beijing Wanshang or similar.

Day 3 – Great Wall of China – Summer Palace (B, L)

The most unique visit for this day is The Great Wall of China, which is right after our breakfast at the hotel. To avoid the crowd, we will only visit one or two of the most famous sections of The Great Wall, namely the Mutianyu and Badaling sections. We can climb these areas with cable cars and then go back down with toboggans instead of hiking (it is best to discuss this before the tour as it will be optional and not included in the tour price). Once we see the Great Wall, it is time for going to the Jade Factory. During this visit, we will also have our lunch and may even have time for some shopping. Then it is time to head out to the Summer Palace which is a large ensemble of beautiful lakes and gardens that are parts of both the history and culture of China. Last but not least, we will take you to a Tea Ceremony in a local tea house. This visit can help you to rest and relax as well as getting better acquainted with Chinese culture.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Beijing Wanshang or similar.

Day 4 – Hutongs of Beijing – Leaving for Xian (B)

On our last day in Beijing, we will have time to visit one of the Hutongs of Beijing, to see the old neighborhoods of the city. We will walk around, see the sights, and have a learning experience that is both fun and exciting. During the afternoon we must check out from the hotel and catch our bullet train to Xian. Once there, your guide will take you to your hotel to check-in and get some rest.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Xi’an on Renmin Square or similar.

Day 5 – The Must-sees of Xian (B, L, D)

You will first have your breakfast at the hotel in Xian, and then we will take you to see the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum where you can see the exotic crafts of the Qin dynasty, and learn their history. We will then head out to have our lunch at a good Chinese restaurant, and try some of their authentic Chinese food. But before Lunch, we will also visit a pottery-making factory and see their crafts. After lunch, it is time to make a visit to The Small Wild Goose Pagoda and then see the Xian Museum. We shall then take you to have Dumplings, a Chinese dish that you must try during your visit to China. Afterward, We will have our dinner at one of the finest local restaurants. Finally, we will go and watch the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show before calling it a night.
Remarks:
Since the dance show is closed in December, January, February, and March, passengers in these months will have a free evening instead.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Xi’an on Renmin Square or similar.

Day 6 – Completing the Xian Tour and Leaving for Shanghai (B)

After breakfast, we will visit the Xi’an City Wall to learn more about the life of locals, as well as enjoying our time. Our last visit to the beautiful city of Xian is to the City Wall, also known as the fortifications of Xian. These fortifications used to serve as the city defenses that are very well preserved. You can enjoy this visit even more by cycling on the wall, which is an optional part of our visit. After taking your pictures and experiencing some of the best of Xian, we will take you to have lunch and then checking-out from your hotel. After that, it is time to leave for Shanghai. In Shanghai, your guide will take you to your new hotel to check in.
🏚️ Hotel Option: San Want Hotel or similar.

Day 7 – History and Beauty of Shanghai (B, L)

In Shanghai, you will mostly hear about the history of the city and see its beauty. After your full buffet breakfast at the hotel, you will learn about both history and culture when you get to the Shanghai History Museum. After learning about their history, we will take you to a more modern destination which is the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower, also known as their iconic TV tower. From above the tower, you can get a view over Shanghai, and enjoy the view just before we go to get our lunch. We will have lunch in one of their good quality restaurants. Our final destination for today is one of the most beautiful places in China, The Yu Garden. In the garden, there are several buildings, exotic decorations, and carvings. There are also ponds and stone bridges that make this visit special. Before going back to the hotel, we have scheduled a visit to a silk shop for those who like shopping.
🏚️ Hotel Option: San Want Hotel or similar.

Day 8 – Departure from Shanghai (B)

We hope you enjoyed these 8 days as it is now time for ending the golden triangle tour. You will have breakfast in the hotel and after that, it is time for check-out. We suggest that you mind your flight schedule and plan for catching the plane in time. The easiest way to do so is by asking your hotel to call you a taxi from the Shanghai international airport. If you have some free time, you can also go out and explore on your own if you please. If you have other plans, such as going on more trips and adventuring a little more, you can contact us at any time for additional information and customization. In any case, we hope you enjoy your trip to China and wish to see you again in our travels.

Walking in the palaces and temples was a nice experience. The stories and the facts, especially about the Tang Dynasty era, provided by the tour guide were really interesting. The tour was great as a whole.

Our tour guides were excellent, Zan was very helpful.. we enjoyed Beijing… Xian was wonderful as well.. joy was also helpful.. however, when we reached Shanghai, there was a scare for the coronavirus already, some of the attractions were closed already.. ana was accommodating though.. without the Wuhan scare, it’s really five stars.. if u don’t mind the cold, better to travel during winter, less people

China Golden Triangle – 8 Days To Beijing – Xian – Shanghai. Before telling my story, the food is good and tasty, don’t worry your dietary requirements will be catered for; our group had chicken and pork (for pork eaters) and sometimes beef and it is a lot of food. So, My family of 3 adults could only get flights for the night before the tour started. Meysam was extremely helpful and booked us an extra night (for an extra low cost – breakfast included) at the same hotel in Beijing (Mercure Wangshang hotel). Upon our arrival we met Michael Fan (was friendly) who transported us from the airport to the hotel and confirmed our booking at the hotel. Make sure to research on youtube (which I did before hand) the process to carry out when arriving at the Beijing airport – such as filling the foreigner cards, scanning the passports and passing through the foreigners gate to taking a terminal train to collect the checked baggage. No one tells you this and you might find yourself in a pickle when you arrive and try to get security to help. The next morning we had breakfast and day 1 became a free day for us. There is a Wanda Plaza (shopping center) approximately +-800m away from the hotel. We spent the day at this shopping center (by walking) and made use of the restaurants, shops and convenience store on the lowest ground floor for dinner during our stay in Beijing. On day 2 – we met the rest of the tour group members (of which there were 7 of us in total) and Mario (friendly, witty, knows his job well, safe pair of hands, always made sure that we were good throughout the Beijing tour). Mario was the best tour guide of the tour. We completed the tour as per the itinerary for the day. Day 3 – (the highlight of the tour was the great wall, one of the seven wonders of the world). Day 4 also took place as per the itinerary. Sadly, it was time to say goodbye to Beijing and Mario. Mario provided us with the train tickets to Xian and the flight ticket to Shanghai. The only issue I had was the slow water drainage in our room shower. We did not have this issue in the other hotels. In the afternoon, Mario took us to the bullet train station for transfer. Unfortunately, the tour guide is not allowed to enter the train station once the ticket is checked (please keep the tickets throughout the train journey for security purposes) and there was a bit of confusion as to which gate to go to. Luckily, Mario made sure to explain how the tickets work and which train to take. This does require some literacy in English or Mandarin as there are boards around to help but not people. Mario also provided us with a picture of our destination to meet the tour guide in Xian. We left around 2pm from Beijing and arrived around 6-7pm in Xian where we met Sally (good and friendly). The only issue we had upon arrival was that the hotel in Xian required a 1000 CNY guaranteed refundable deposit. Luckily, we had cash and the rest of the group had their cards. For future reference, I’d advise that China Ways tour find out about this and provide an estimated amount for their customers to bring with them even though ‘other fees’ were stated and is not included, but at the very least we’d know what to expect. For dinner, there is a shopping mall called Sufresh approx +- 750m away from the hotel (also walked) and we had pizza hut since they were still opened at 21:30pm. The itinerary for Day 5 and 6 needed to be shifted around to accommodate everyone on our tour since the 7 of us would depart to different places after visiting Xian. Day 5 was dedicated to the warriors (the exciting part of the Xian tour) and day 6 went by without a hitch. In the afternoon, we left the rest of the group to catch our flight to Shanghai. Here again, some knowledge is required on how to read the flight number (the only word in English on the ticket except for our names). The tour guide does not come with you to the airport. A designated driver left us the airport and we had to try and figure out that there were designated baggage check in spots for foreigners for domestic flights. We also had to use the pointing method to ask around on what to do next or where to go (this is definitely not for the faint hearted or the panicking type of person). We managed to board the flight and was on our way to Shanghai. I was impressed that we received dinner on the plane. So there wasn’t a need to find dinner in Shanghai for the night. Arriving in Shanghai, a driver transported us to the Regal East Asia Shanghai Hotel. Luckily, the staff at this hotel spoke English, since there was no mention of what time breakfast was the next morning and the time to meet the tour guide. In the morning of day 7, we waited for the tour guide, Jackie (who is ok, but had some difficulty communicating with since he spoke a little English compared to the other tour guides in our tour). I did learn some phrases and the numbers in Mandaring, so I had to speak a little to him when we first met. At the very least he did a good job at explaining the TV tower in Shanghai. And we got to try out hotpot that I have heard about. We returned to the hotel in the afternoon after going to the Yu garden. On Day 8, we had breakfast and checked out the hotel. We are the adventurous type of people so we booked ourselves into another hotel privately. We asked the hotel to get a taxi for us. The taxi will take you to the airport or to your next destination. What helped us is that I used Google to translate where I want to go. Do take note that Google or any app related to Google does not work in China without a VPN (this is what I found out after much research). So, download a few VPNs (Ultimate VPN free version worked for me) from the play store before arriving to China and then switch it on and you should be able to access google through the hotel wifi (but also take note that the connection drops quite frequently and needs to be switched on a few times to work). It is quite difficult to get access to a Chinese sim card. There are some Chinese people who have access to a Chinese English translator which helps but not everyone has this app. Also, there is a law in Shanghai, any disposable items like toothbrushes, combs, razors etc. will not be provided in the hotels automatically) but you can ask for them if you need them. Overall: I was happy with the service. China ways tour is safe to go with which is the most important factor of any holiday. I would recommend them since they are reasonably priced as well and the groups are not big and not too small to get lost or stolen! There are some shopping but not too much which is well balanced. I would like to revisit China again through China Ways tours in 10 years’ time to see how much more have been accomplished.

I just got back from an 8 day golden triangle trip with China Ways and it was a very fascinating experience. The overall trip was good with planned airports/hotels pick-up and drops, good hotels, good tour guides (except 1 in Xian), great locations and rich Chinese history. My Day5 in Xian was messed due to no Travel coordination between Beijing and Xian offices, so missing itinerary had to be squeezed into Day6. On the whole, a good trip.

My husband and I have been traveling for about 50 years together and have visited different parts of Asia like South Korea, Japan, Vietnam and etc. We really thought that this trip to China would be just a normal trip like the other ones but China did not disappoint us at all. We really loved seeing the beauties, although they look very similar in core with other eastern Asian culture and architecture but still a very worthy trip to this beautiful and vast land. If you have the time to visit China, do not miss the chance, Take it.

Visiting three cities in 8 days made me feel a little rushed, but I can’t say that the tour was not good. The tour guide, the hotel, the attractions were all lovely and amazing; however I would be much happier if I had more time.

The tour went great and the destinations were beautiful. There were some issues; for example I expected a better time management because sometimes especially in Shanghai, we had to wait a long time for the bus to arrive. Other than that, everything were fine.

I would say Beijing was crowded but the planning was good enough that we did not waste any time or skip any of the monuments and museums. I can say the guide was also very good at his job because I’ve been to some bad tours and this one was not one of them. I only give 4 stars for my experience since I did not very much like the food at the hotels.
