Beijing Xian Chengdu Shanghai Tour

Day 1 – Arrival in Beijing – Airport Pickup – Hotel Transfer

On the day you arrive in Beijing you will meet your guide in the arrival hall of the airport who will welcome you to China. Immediately after the greeting and receiving some necessary instructions about your tour, you will be taken to your hotel via a comfortable van or car. There, you can check-in and get some rest from the long flight to prepare yourself for an exciting adventure in China.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Wanshang Hotel or similar.

Day 2 – Beijing Forbidden City Tour (B, L)

After having breakfast in your hotel, you will meet your tour guide and other group members and we will take you directly to your first destination, Tiananmen Square by private car or van. Not only one of the largest squares in the world, but this place is also famous for all the events that have taken place in Chinese history. Cross the street is your next destination, The Forbidden City which is an imperial palace and you will take 2 hours walking tour around Forbidden City.
By the time we finish this visit, it will be time for lunch in a nice local Chinese restaurant. After our lovely lunch and in the afternoon, we will head to the Temple of Heaven. This temple is one of the largest and most important places of worship in Beijing, which is also unique in its architecture.
In the evening, you will go to the Red theater to watch the exciting Chinese Kung Fu Show. The Legend of Kung Fu Show, which premiered at Beijing’s Red Theater in 2004, tells the story of a young monk who dreams of one day becoming a kung fu master. The best Kong Fu practitioners from all across China tell the story through Chinese martial arts, traditional and modern dance, and Chinese acrobatics.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Wanshang Hotel or similar.

Day 3 – Beijing Great Wall Tour (B, L)

At the start of this day we will have breakfast at the hotel and then visit one of the seven wonders of our world, The Great Wall of China. When we reach the Great Wall of China, you will only be able to see some sections of the wall because of its length. These sections are called Mutianyu and Badaling sections, which are famous and less crowded areas, suitable for visitors. After this visit, you will be taken to the Jade Factory where you can also have lunch and do some shopping before moving towards The Summer Palace. The palace is a large ensemble of several beautiful lakes and gardens, that are only parts of rich Chinese history and culture. By the end of the day, we will take you to a Tea Ceremony, to get some rest and relax.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Wanshang Hotel or similar.

Day 4 – Beijing Hutong Tour – Beijing to Xi’an by Bullet Train (B)

You can have your last breakfast in Beijing in the hotel before we take you to one of the Hutongs of Beijing to walk in the older neighborhoods of the city. You can plan to have lunch during this visit or return to the hotel with your guide. In the afternoon the group will check-out from the hotel and then head to the airport to leave for Xian. Once in Xian, your guide will take you and the rest of your group to your new hotel to check-in and rest. If there is time you can explore a little, but it is better to rest and prepare for the next day.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Xi’an On Renmin Square or similar.

Day 5 – Xi’an Day Tour (B, L, D)

Your first morning of Xian will begin with breakfast at the hotel. Then you will be taken to visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum and after it, a pottery-making factory. During these two visits, you learn about the crafts and pottery of the Qin dynasty and see some exotic pieces of Chinese culture. By the time this visit ends, it will be time for our lunch in a fine local Chinese restaurant, where we can try some of their Chinese dishes.
After a chance to rest and have our lunch, we can head out to discover more about the temples of China. Your guide will take you to see the Small Wild Goose pagoda. After seeing the temple and enjoying its unique architecture as well as its history, we will head to the Xi’an Museum. These two visits will take some time and a lot of energy, which is why we have arranged a dinner for you in one of the best local restaurants in Xian to have some of the famous Chines Dumplings. We will also be watching a Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show before returning to the hotel.
Note: the show is closed in December, January, February, and March. Tourists will have the evening for themselves during these months.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Xi’an On Renmin Square or similar.

Day 6 – Xi’an Fortifications – Muslim Neighborhood (B, L)

The first thing for today is breakfast at the hotel and then visit the City Wall. You saw the Great Wall of China, but now it is time to visit some of the other fortifications of China which are ancient but very well preserved. Since this site is very large, you can rent bicycles to enjoy this visit even more (the fee is not included in your tour price). After the wall, we will have lunch and go to learn about the Muslims of China during a visit to The Great Mosque of Xi’an. We will see this well-preserved place of worship of Muslims and then take a walk on Muslim Street to try some of their food and snacks or go shopping if possible.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Xi’an On Renmin Square or similar.

Day 7 – Leaving Xi’an to Chengdu (B, L)

You will have a full buffet breakfast at the hotel, which is the only planned meal of this day. After having your last breakfast in Xian, we will check out from the hotel and catch our train to Chengdu. This trip will not take long and while on the way, you can see the lovely environment around the path. You can also have tea or coffee to relax and enjoy the ride. When we arrive, your guide will take you to your new hotel for check-in. You have the rest of the day to yourself. You can go anywhere you want for lunch and dinner and even explore the city. Your guide is available to provide you with instructions and suggestions for some possible destinations. We also suggest visiting Chunxi Road and Tianfu Square, since they are very close to the hotel and you can even take a walk to see them. Be sure to get some rest for your next day.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Chengdu Chunxi or similar.

Day 8 – Giant Pandas – Wide/Narrow Allies – Jinsha Site Museum (B)

Today is scheduled to visit China’s national treasure, giant pandas at the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. The morning is the best time to watch active pandas. You will surely enjoy seeing panda bears eating bamboo or playing with each other.
Your guide will take you to wide and narrow allies of Chengdu to walk around to pick a restaurant and having your lunch. After lunch, you will visit the Jinsha Site Museum where you can watch a 4D film “Dream Back to Jinsha”. This gives you a chance to understand how life was 2,000 years ago.
🏚️ Hotel Option: Mercure Chengdu Chunxi or similar.

Day 9 – Leaving Chengdu for Shanghai (B)

After breakfast, you will check out the hotel to head to your last destination on this tour. We will take you to Chengdu Airport to board on your 3 hours flight to Shanghai. Our guide will be there at the airport to pick you up and transfer you to your next hotel. After checking in to your hotel in Shanghai, you will have the rest of the day on your own to rest or explore around and enjoy the mesmerizing nightlife in Shanghai.
🏚️ Hotel Option: San Want Hotel or similar.

Day 10 – The Beautiful City of Shanghai (B, L)

It is best to learn a little about the history and culture of Shanghai right after breakfast. That is why our first visit to the city will be to the Shanghai History Museum. Once we learn a little about the history of Shanghai, we will visit the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower, also known as the TV Tower, where you can see the city from above this tower. After witnessing the Shanghai of today and becoming acquainted with its past, it is time to see its beauty, but before that, we will make a stop for lunch. Our next destination is Yu Garden, which is a place where you can see some amazing stone bridges, artificial hills, and clear ponds. There are also several buildings with unique architecture and special decorations as well as carvings in this garden, which make it a famous tourist attraction. We have also planned to take you for silk shopping if you like, just before calling it a day.
🏚️ Hotel Option: San Want Hotel or similar.

Day 11 – Departure from Shanghai (B)

In the morning we will have our last breakfast together as you will need to check out and head to the airport to catch the flight home. The easiest way to get there is by asking the hotel to call you a taxi. If your flight schedule allows, you can go and explore a bit before heading to the airport. If you wish to explore the city, you must keep the time on your mind and also ask the hotel or your guide about the traffic. Feel free to contact us for additional information about this tour or any other tours you might like.

China’s history was amazing. Tiananmen Square, the great wall, the temple of heaven, forbidden city, and other palaces, the culture, all of it were just great. The tour itself was managed quite fine, the accommodations and the transportation were good as compared with the price. The guide was really knowledgeable and helpful as well.

Fortunately, the planning was good enough that we could visit all the attractions included in the itinerary. Also, I loved the tour guides in our destinations. All of them provided us with great tips in different cities about foods and shopping. Besides, their information about attractions were fantastic. Thank you!

This trip was excellent value for money. An interesting and varied itinerary which gave a look at 4 different cities and the major highlights. The guides were excellent, especially Michael in Beijing, Joy in Xi’an and Jolie? In Chengdu. They were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I recommend them highly. At most sites there was no waiting in long queues and they gave excellent background information and advice on best viewing spots etc. Accommodation, in general, was excellent except for the very hard mattresses at the Mercure in Beijing. All locations were quite central and within walking distance of cafes, shops. Some expectations for the pickup drivers needs to be looked at. Our driver was not there to pick us up at the train station in Xi’an or the one at the airport in Shanghai. This was disappointing and caused us some angst on an otherwise very enjoyable trip.

Honestly one of the best tours that I could have gone on in China. I didn’t want to travel through China on my own and so this tour went to all of the places that I wanted to go to and did everything on my list. I had multiple tour guides on this trip, all of which were very well preserved in English as well as their own native language. They made sure that I had transportation and that I was at the train station on time as well as the airports. They were at each station waiting for me and were very kind and knowledgeable. overall I really enjoyed the tour and would definitely recommend this tour.

The tours gave an insight to China’s rich history from past dynasties to the present modern world. The Great Wall, Terracotta Army, Pandas, and the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower are a must see. Our guides were very knowledgeable and overall helpful. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Tour guides were exceptionally friendly and well versed in English. Food and local cuisine was fantastic and the history was well versed and told. The accommodation was outstanding and the staff at every hotel was very helpful and all around polite. Any issues and they would try to help you out no matter what the issue (make sure to have a translator app if you don’t know Chinese). When you have free time the public are very friendly and the restaurants have a lot of staff who try very hard to help and try to talk to you in English. Overall very very pleased with this trip. I would suggest that in-transit days – packed lunches are available along with bottled water as locating food on the journeys can be challenging, also that the option of dinner on the transit day also be offered

Honestly I was the only person on this itinerary. That was fine, but I didn’t know it until I arrived that I would be put with other groups who were doing different things. I did not get to see the Terracotta warriors museum, we only saw the pits. Also, the transportation information was horrible. I kept having to reach out to my first tour guide to find out what I was doing next such as flight numbers and train tickets. In each transfer I was dropped off by a non-English speaking driver. That was fine for the airports since most airports operate the same way, but it was terrible for catching the train to Chengdu. The driver was 20 minutes late for pickup that morning. He just dropped me off at the train station with no information. (He also dropped me off at the wrong spot.) Since he did not speak English he could not tell me where to go. I had to contact my first tour guide to get information on where to pick up my ticket then navigate the train station by myself. Though the tour guides themselves were very good the tour logistics felt VERY disorganized and like my travel arrangements were being arranged at the last minute. My suggestions would be to let someone know if they are being put with different tour groups and to provide all logistical travel arrangements at the beginning of the tour as well as information on where and how to navigate train stations and airports. Also make sure that all transfer drivers speak English.

Hi Melissa Thank you for your detailed feedback. We are sorry to hear that you didn’t have the best experience regarding transportation. We try our best to improve our transport logistics to deal with busy hours of Beijing and Shanghai and be more accurate and on-time. Also since you were the only passenger on that specific date, there were some complications that we sincerely apologize for that. On behalf of all the Trip Ways team we appreciate your business and we hope to see you again in beautiful China soon!
