Day 1: Angra Day Tour

The full-day van tour is characterized by panoramic views, and the preference of the island’s coastal area, with the exception of the visit to the volcano. Preferably, the tour starts in the historic center of Angra, visiting Monte Brasil, the volcano attached to the city, following through the center of Angra, passing through the historic monuments.
Then, delineating the east side of the south coast, we pass by Ilhéus das Cabras, an underwater volcano, as well as the parish of Porto Judeu, where one of the best examples of the Empires is located, where the Holy Spirit is celebrated, one of the traditions of Terceira Island. Heading to the Bay of Salga, where the first battle with the Spaniards took place, we review the history of the island, going up to the Vila de São Sebastião, we visit the first church to be built on the island, as well as the adjacent Empire, illustrative of the traditions of the island. It follows the Serra do Cume, the north wall of the largest supervolcano on the Island, from where we can see the enigmatic Manta dos Retalhos.
Descending to Praia da Vitória, we visited the other municipality of the Island, with the largest oceanic port.
Heading to the North coast, we visit the parish Biscoitos, best known for the wine produced there, where we have the possibility to taste the wine, as well as try the natural pools. Towards the interior of the island, we visit Algar do Carvão, an empty volcano, which, as such, only has 2 more in the world. The visit is extremely accessible and a truly unique experience.
To end the day, we head towards the cheese factory, where we can taste the cheeses produced there, as well as, with any luck, watch the sunset. The trip back to the stay goes through the rest of the West part of the South Coast, towards Angra, also passing through the fishing village of São Mateus.
