Full Day Jeep Tour

Day 1: Serra da Ribeirinha – Mata da Serreta – Gruta do Natal

The full-day Jeep Tour is characterized by natural landscapes, as well as the preference for dirt roads. We start the tour by visiting the Serra da Ribeirinha, from where we have a panoramic view of the city of Angra do Heroismo. Following immediately to the interior of the island, we start with the interior paths of Agualva, and along the way we catch glimpses of Lajes, Ponta dos Mistérios and Biscoitos.
During the tour, we focus on the island’s fauna and flora, as well as the invasive species, with the natural character being the main focus. We continue to Mata da Serreta, where we see in greater abundance indigenous species of the Island. There is the possibility to make a small trail to Lagoinha, a small natural lagoon.
During the afternoon, there is the possibility of visiting Gruta do Natal, where we walk in natural lava tubes, as well as Furnas do Enxofre, a fumarolic field, ending with the visit of Algar do Carvão.
The visit to the Gruta do Natal will be conditioned by the physical capacities of the customers since the whole grotto is natural, some parts are more demanding and narrow, and when there are physical inhibitions, we chose to omit this part of the visit.
However, Furnas do Enxofre and Algar do Carvão visits in stages and are very accessible, with customers having different parts where they can choose to end the visit and return to the starting point.
