8 Day to Essaouira Tour Via Atlantic Coast

Day 1: Marrakech

Day 2: Marrakech – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Zagora

After breakfast, your driver will pick you up at your accommodation and drive through the High Atlas to the Great South. We will cross the pass of Tizi N’Tichka, 2,260m of altitude. It is a famous mountain pass with incredible views of the High Atlas and Berber villages settled in the foothills of the mountains. Visit of the Kasbahs Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate, where several films have been shot. The Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou is a world heritage Kasbah since 1987 by UNESCO. We will continue the trip towards Zagora by the Anti Atlas Mountain, crossing the Draa Valley, where The Saadi dynasty started, ze will drive through the old road of caravans that crossed the Sahara by lowering salt and raising slaves. We will enjoy the beauty of the landscape, and the palm grove of Draa over 180KM. The route is dotted with numerous ksour (palaces) and kasbahs scattered throughout the valley and is the area of greatest date production in Morocco. Then we will follow the road until we reach Zagora.

Day 3: Zagora – Tamgroute – M’hamid – Dunes Erg Chegaga

Departure through the track of the Paris-Dakar Rally crossing the desert and sand dunes, dry lakes, and discovering the life of the nomads. This will be a stage of immersion in the desert towards Tamgroute. We will visit the Koranic library and the town. We will continue along the track towards the camp in the middle of the desert of the Erg Chegaga Dunes, an area less frequented by tourists and one of the most authentic in Morocco. There you will get into the most unexplored part of the desert, to contemplate the majestic sunset over the brown dunes of Erg chiggaga. Arrival at cheggga, you will ride the camel to assist to the lifetime sunset after sunset you will spend the night under Berber tent (with shared bathroom and showers.

Day 4: Erg Chegaga Dunes – Iriki Lake – Anti Atlas – Taroudant

We will get up early to see the beautiful sunrise on a high among the dunes. We will have breakfast before continuing to Iriki Lake, from there we will drive to the Atlantic Coast leaving the dry winds of the Sahara, during the drive we will cross many valleys and irrigated and cultivated oases, contrasting with the steppe and arid landscape of the most exposed slopes. The landscape is characterized by the picturesque surroundings of the kasbahs and the fields in the form of stone terraces. We will stop for lunch in the village of Taliouin the capital of Safran, and then continue to reach the city of Taroudant, also called the small Marrakech, with its wonderful walls.

Day 5: Taroudant – Agadir – Essaouira (Atlantic Route)

After breakfast in the morning, we will visit the city of Taroudant, the Remparts, the souks, and the silver markets. After the visit, we will leave towards Agadir, following the Atlantic Coast where we will cross fishing villages such as Aourir, Taghazout, Imir Ouaddar, Tamri, I’m-Souane, and Sidi Kaouki, until we reach Essaouira. During this stage, we will travel next to the Atlantic Ocean, with beautiful landscapes.

Day 6: Essaouira – Marrakech

Breakfast in your hotel and free morning to visit the city of Essaouira, also known by the old name of Mogador. Its medina or historic center is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 2001. It is a pearl for art lovers, unique in its kind, with great artistic, traditional and cultural richness. The urbanism of the city has the wall, the medina, the souk with its narrow streets and the port of the fishermen as well as a great beach. The visitor will fall in love with this beautiful coastal city. don’t miss to enjoy a fish lunch at the port and visit the secala. In the afternoon leave to Marrakech located about 3 hours from Essaouira by express road.

Day 7: Marrakech Sightseeing Tour

Your guide will meet you at your accommodation in Marrakech to start a guided city tour of Marrakech. The origins of this city are not clear, but it is accepted that it began as a military camp established by Abú Bekr, Almoravid chief in 1070.
