Upper Town Square
The Ottoman Turks originally founded Kolasin as a fortified town in 1651. Today, Kolasin is mainly concerned with the two upper and lower town squares. The upper town square is known as the ancient Turkish town. Wander around and communicate with hospitable locals, and make sure to try some local meals such as ham, cornbread, and layered cheese at the traditional restaurant of Konoba.
Lower Town Square
The lower town square houses a fountain and a memorial statue dedicated to Partisan soldiers who died during World War II. Meander around this vast cultural center and make sure to visit the Kolašin museum that is an excellent reflection of communist Brutalist architecture.
Adventure Park Kolasin
Kolasin Adventure Park is a tree-tops ropes course located near the Bianca Hotel and Resort. It houses paths with three levels of difficulty, including the yellow trail for 4-8-year-old individuals, the blue trail for 9+ years, and the red trail for 14+ years.
Horse Riding
Kolasin is also an ideal destination for horse trekking. Make sure not to miss the gently rolling hills of Bjelasica and Biograska Gora.
Kolasin 1450
Just a 15 minute drive away from Kolašin, you’ll find the most popular ski area: Kolasin 1450, welcoming skiers from around Montenegro and Albania in winter. Don’t miss out on visiting the panoramic views of Biogradska Gora National Park and the Bjelasica Mountains lakes in summer.
Jeep Safari
One way to enjoy the beautiful destination in Koalsin is to take a jeep safari through the Bjelasica mountain range and Biogradska Gora National Park. Don’t miss out on swimming in the lake and indulge in panoramic views of Zekova Glava.
Botanical Garden
The botanical garden in Kolasin is a small private garden where you’ll find plant species from different mountain regions of Montenegro. Zora and Daniel Vincek are a couple running this passion project warmly welcome locals and tourists.
Partisan Memorial Cemetery Breza
Kolasin lost about 400 soldiers killed during World War II. Germany and Italy bombed the city during the war, and the Partisan Memorial Cemetery was built in honor of imprisoned and killed patriots from all over Montenegro. The monument represents Brutalist architecture.
Biogradska Gora National Park
Your trip to Montenegro remains incomplete without visiting Biograska Gora in Kolasin. One of the three virgin forests that remained in Europe, the national park is an ideal destination for biking, fishing, hiking, boating. Horse riding, go off-roading and visiting the ancient katuns (shepherds’ huts).
