💎 Why we love it ?

The heart of Aotearoa New Zealand’s beautiful North Island is sparkling Lake Taupo, the great inland sea of New Zealand, trout-filled rivers, and the thundering Huka Falls. Three towering volcanoes in the awesome and otherworldly landscape with the welcoming nature of Cape Kidnappers, an outstanding bird-watching destination, with dramatic coastal views into the bargain. Get right up close to explore lake Taupō on an eco-friendly scenic cruise around the Western Bay of the Lake to see the huge Māori rock carvings at Mine Bay.

🏁 Tour Itinerary: Cape Kidnappers Experience

Day 1: Lake Taupo + Huka Falls + Silica Terraces Walkway

Marvel at the breath-taking geothermal scenery, stunning waterfalls and World Heritage-listed forest reserves, and the largest freshwater lake in Australasia. A land of fire and ice, Lake Taupō, a stunning natural cauldron, is ringed by snow-capped mountains and surrounded by geothermal hot spots, such as bubbling mud pools, fumaroles, and hot springs.

Be amazed by the majestic Huka Falls – an incredible waterfall that thunders 11m into the Waikato River below and boasts the title of being New Zealand’s most visited natural attraction. This incredible waterfall is the most-visited natural attraction in New Zealand – it’s hard to tear your gaze away from the endless, mesmerizing torrent. Experience dazzling views of the falls and river from the pedestrian bridge. Looking upstream from the footbridge over the Waikato River where the watercourse squeezes into the narrow gorge and results in a bit of turbulence. Explore the scenic beauty of Lake Taupō waterfront by stretching your legs along with one of many lakesides walking trails.  Take a step away and enjoy the complete peace and quiet of water’s edge picnic spots and elevated viewing areas.

Come and explore the bubbling and steaming lands of Wairakei Terraces. A geothermal wonderland and the jewel in the crown of this magical region. Silica terrace Walkway provides a unique window into the thermal wonderland that once existed at Wairakei. Intricate carvings posted throughout the walk depict Maori history and the man-made geyser and terraces are the crowning glory in this mystical tribute to the original geysers and terraces. Silica-enriched water flows away from the geyser into blue pools then cascades over the terraces, depositing large amounts of silica to form amazing terraces reminiscent of the original pink and white versions of Tarawera which were once touted as the true eighth wonder of the world.

We then continue our journey from Taupo to Napier. The major entertainment on the road trip from Taupō to Napier takes you through fantastic scenery with rugged hills, beautiful valleys, gentle plains, and huge vistas. We stop at the Waipunga Falls lookout, to view the twin waterfalls. Once in Hawke’s Bay, you will discover a fertile wine-growing region that boasts one of the world’s best collections of Art Deco architecture. We rest for an overnight stay in Napier.

Day 2: Cape Kidnappers Gannet Safari & Art Deco Walking Tours, Napier City

Your day starts with a unique wildlife encounter on a cape kidnappers.

Visit Cape Kidnappers the world’s largest, most accessible mainland gannet colony. Ride in style and comfort over picturesque Cape Kidnappers Station in air-conditioned 4 x 4 vehicles – traversing riverbeds, broad rolling pastures, through stands of native bush, steep gullies, and breathtaking views.  There is a stop on the way at a spectacular cliff top with panoramic views of Hawke Bay right across to the Mahia Peninsula. The 36km, the three-hour trip includes commentary by your tour guide on the farming operation of Cape Kidnappers Station and an introduction to the gannets. Included is a coffee or tea at the colony.

In return, experience Napier’s Art Deco heritage. Visit the world-famous sights, suburbs, buildings, and landmarks of our town. Take a walk back in time with a guided walking tour. Your local guide will tell you stories of the earthquake that destroyed the city and the remarkable recovery and rebuild that was completed in less than two years.

The rest of the evening is set to enjoy at leisure. Overnight stay in Napier.

Day 3: Lake Taupo Maori Rock Carving Cruise + Huka Honey Hive

We start from Napier on our way back to Auckland. As we again pass through Taupo, we land at the popular attraction which is the Māori rock carvings on the cliffs of Mine Bay. These can only be accessed by water so lake cruises are a great way to explore them. Towering 14 meters above the waters of Lake Taupō, the Māori rock carvings have become one of the biggest tourist attractions in the north island of New Zealand. Cruise to the popular Māori Rock carvings while enjoying the inspiring scenery that unfolds around you. Make yourself at home on a lovingly restored classic white sailing yacht, which set the scene for a wonderful experience to discover its natural beauty and hidden wonders. Learn about the spiritual and cultural significance of the area from the skipper and informative commentary. Investigate the hidden bays and beautiful coastline as you enjoy stunning vistas guarded by majestic mountains, enduring witnesses to Taupō’s volcanic past. Experience Lake Taupō Free refreshments including tea, coffee, hot chocolate. In the summer swimming is encouraged.

Rich, full and flavorsome, discover the largest range of honey and honey-based products in Aotearoa. Excite the senses, be tempted by an amazing array of 100% pure New Zealand honey, mead, natural health and wellbeing products, and unique gift ideas. A unique taste experience with free honey, mead & liqueur tastings. Live beehive viewings and fascinating interactive displays. Discover health & wellness products, divine honey-based skincare products. Complete your experience by relaxing in the lounge or gardens with a coffee or delicious honey ice cream.

Every tour provides a unique and ever-changing experience & scenery which we know you’ll enjoy. During your tour, there will be many fabulous photo opportunities that will leave you with fond memories that we hope you will share with your family and friends.
