Day 2: Full Wine Day with Montevideo City Tour
Have breakfast, enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour of Montevideo and its best attractions. Enjoy a Gourmet Lunch paired with wines at a 3rd generation family winery in the heart of the Canelones wine region. You will be received by a winery expert, who will take you to the vineyards, winery, cellar, and packaging room explaining in detail how they make their wines. This is more of an educational experience, where you will learn about Uruguay wines in a fun interactive atmosphere tasting many wines including Tannat, Uruguay’s flagship grape, now the world’s healthiest red wine. After many laughs, head back to your boutique accommodation. Take a dip in the pool, enjoy some relaxation time, then have dinner with wine.

Day 3: Full Day Trip to Colonia del Sacramento
After breakfast take a full-day trip to Colonia del Sacramento, where you will visit a world heritage site with lots of history and culture. Stop at Nueva Helvecia (formerly Colonia Suiza), where residents have maintained their Swiss traditions and customs to this day. Stop at Plaza de Toros de San Carlos (former bullring). The arena hosted a total of eight fights before bullfighting was prohibited by the Uruguayan national government in 1912. The next stop will be the Historic Plaza, where you will have free time to visit the Old Fort. Enjoy a local lunch at your own leisure. We can recommend a nice spot within the plaza. Return to Montevideo for dinner and wine.
🏚️ Alquimista Boutique Hotel.
Day 4: Day Trip to Punta del Este with Wine Tasting & Lunch and a visit to Casapueblo
Have breakfast, then head to Punta del Este for a fun day trip. Stop at a new winery near Piriapolis, where you will have a breathtaking view of the vineyards followed by a complete wine tasting with a light lunch – plates of cheeses, cured hams, and snacks. This winery produces delicious wines just 3km from the ocean. Taste many wines, including Albariño, Viognier, and of course Tannat. Head to Casapueblo, constructed by the Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. It is located in Punta Ballena, 13 kilometres from Punta del Este. Initially, it was the artist’s summer home and workshop, which houses a museum, art gallery, cafeteria, and hotel. Enjoy a coffee at the restaurant overlooking epic views. The next stop is Punta del Este, where we will stop at La Mano (hand out of the sand), followed by a tour of the peninsula. Once you get to the Port, you will have free time to do some sightseeing, take pictures, do some shopping or grab a bite to eat or drink. Travel back to Montevideo for dinner at your leisure.

This experience was the highlight of our trip to Montevideo. It was phenomenal, intimate, and like being among friends. I have done many wine tours in California and this was second to none. Ryan Hamilton knows the wine business inside and out. You will get a real feel of how the process works and how it evolved in Uruguay. Don’t hesitate, book Ryan if you are coming to Montevideo. You will not regret it!

From start to finish, the communication was top notch. Ryan setup up everything (hotel pickup and drop off) via WhatsApp and followed up after the tour to make sure we had a great time. He also gave us excellent recommendations on restaurants throughout Montevideo.
Melissa was our guide and she was very informative and thoughtful. Melissa is a very warm person and good company to spend the day with. She provided tons of good info on the different sites throughout the city and made sure all our questions were answered. Definitely recommend taking this tour on your first day in Montevideo to get the lay of the land.
Thank you Ryan and Melissa for a fantastic tour of the city.

Whether you tour with Ryan or with one of his protege’s, I guarantee you will have a great time. Ryan contacted me via WhatsApp right after I booked the tour, and provided recommendations ahead of our tour for our stay in Montevideo. He picked us up from our hotel.
At the winery we learned about and tasted the local wines which were paired with a delicious Uruguay lunch. Our sommeliers Ryan and Lucio answered all wine and Uruguay-related questions and even set up a crash-course lesson about the local specialty: Tannat.
It was a fantastic excursion, I couldn’t recommend it more!
Thanks Ryan!

We visited small vineries with excellent products, talked with the owners about their wine and about life in Uruguay. Ryan, our guide is a wine expert and gave us also outstanding gastronomic recommendations in Montevideo. Top experience.
