Zil Castle
Zil Castle is one of the most magnificent and famous ancient places in Rize, Turkey. It was constructed during Yavuz Sultan Selim’s reign in the Ardshan region in a valley. Zil Castle, dating back to the 14th or 15th century AD, is located at a very high distance from the ground at an altitude of 1130 meters on the edge of a precipice overlooking the Valley with three rows of walls. Just forget about your acrophobia and view the exceptional scenery from the top of the castle.
Firtina River
Fiirtina River, located in Rize, attracts many tourists for several reasons, including the arched stairs on the river, surrounding tea cultivation, and the locals’ traditional costumes. Fiirtina River is the right place for boating, one of the most attractive sports and recreations in the hot summer season. It takes almost an hour by boat to cross the 57 km route on the Firtina River. Both novice and skilled boaters will enjoy rafting at this glamorous gem-like river.
Verçenik Mount
Verçenik Mount lies at an altitude of 3711 meters in the Kaçkar Mountains in the Black Sea region of northern Anatolia. Situated at the top of the fantastic mountain, you will enjoy the louder reflection of your voice as you shout.
Rize Castle
Rize Castle, also known as Rize Kalesi, is situated on a hill southwest of the city center, offering a panoramic and stunning city view. It consists of a citadel and the lower castle. Locals believe that the fortress was built during Byzantine emperor Justinian I, while the lower court dates back to the 13th century.
Ataturk House and Ethnography Museum
Also known as Mehmet Mataracı mansion, the Atatürk Ataturk House And Ethnography Museum are located to the south of the main road and the east of the city Stadium. This three-story mansion was constructed in 1921. Later in 1924, Mustafa Kemal Pasha (later Atatürk), Turkey’s founder, has dwelt here while visiting Rize. In the 100th birth year of Atatürk, the house owners granted it to the governorship of Rize to be used as Atatürk museum.
