Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Tanzania (Airport Pick-up & Briefing)

  • Your driver will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer you to your hotel. Later, your head guide will meet you for a thorough gear check and pre-climb briefing to prepare you for the midnight departure the following days.

Day 2
  • a steady hike through the lush

After an early breakfast, you drive to Machame Gate for registration. Your trek begins with a steady hike through the lush, misty montane rainforest, spotting colobus monkeys before arriving at Machame Camp for your first night on the mountain.

Day 3
  • A long, challenging day

A long, challenging day. You skip the standard overnight stop at Shira. You will hike up the steep moorland ridge, cross the expansive Shira Plateau, and push straight through the alpine desert toward Lava Tower for lunch before descending to sleep at the beautiful Barranco Camp.

Day 4
  • You start the morning by scrambling up the famous Great Barranco Wall for incredible glacier views. Instead of camping at Karanga, you will stop there for a quick lunch and push directly upward through the cold, stark alpine desert to reach Barafu Base Camp by evening.

Day 5
  • Wake up at midnight for the ultimate push over steep volcanic scree in the freezing dark. You will reach the crater rim at sunrise and push to Uhuru Peak, the roof of Africa! After celebrating, you make a long descent back to Barafu for a quick rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp.

Day 6
  • A gentle morning walk through the oxygen-rich rainforest brings you down to Mweka Gate. After your official summit certificate presentation and the traditional tipping celebration with your crew, a private vehicle transfers you back to your hotel for a hot shower.

Day 7
  • Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and take care of any last-minute souvenir shopping. Your driver will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you back to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home.
