Swakopmund Museum
Once served as a harbor warehouse, the Swakopmund Museum is an adventurous exploration through Namibia’s ethnology and history. It houses a massive collection of various ethnic groups exhibiting the Namibian lifestyles that evolved over centuries. The Devil’s Claw is one of the most popular attractions of the Swakopmund Museum, which is a showcase of historical machinery standing on one side and archaeological exhibitions on the other side.
The Jetty
One of the most iconic landmarks in Swakopmund is the jetty standing against the wild Atlantic sea. Initially served as a mooring for ships, the jetty was neglected after the Walvis Bay harbor was constructed. Renovated over the years, it’s now a favorite hangout for those interested in some fresh sea air. Make sure to visit the bar and seafood restaurant in the jetty and taste the fresh Namibian cuisine.
National Marine Aquarium
National Marine Aquarium is the only aquarium at Swakopmund situated on the waterfront housing many marine creatures. Don’t miss out on walking through the tunnel and visiting the close-up sightings of sharks, lobsters, various types of fish, rays, starfish, Cape fur seals, Mantra rays, and sea Cape fur seals.
Kristall Gallerie
Kristall Gallerie houses the largest quartz crystal cluster in the world that unearthed in 1985 in Otjua. Excavation of the cluster with more than three m tall and 141,000 km weight took five years. The gallery is home to a crystal cave, a gem garden, jewelry boutique, studio, and a craft area.
Sandboarding
The best place for sand dune lovers to fly and zoom down the sandy faces of the world’s most giant sand dunes on old Swakopmund sand boards, the Namib Desert is a fabulous scenic beauty and desired playground for sand boarders.
