On the second day, we go to Erice, a fairy-tale place where you can discover the old medieval village and the castle. Before leaving, don’t forget to taste the typical local cookies, the Genovesi pastries, made with a shortcrust pastry stuffed with custard. 🏁 Tour Itinerary: 6 Days Tour of Sicily – the Northwest from Trapani to Cefalù
Day 1: Saline di Trapani
Pick-up at the airport and hotel check-in. You will be welcomed by our tour guide at the airport of Catania or Palermo, or in the city of Messina. The first stop of the tour of Sicily will be Trapani. The morning is dedicated to the visit of the Salt Pans of Trapani, where you can see the nature reserve in which the population makes the salt extraction. Lunch in a typical Sicilian restaurant.
In the afternoon, we are moving to the center of the town where through a walking tour along the main street we visit the most important monuments. Dinner and overnight in 4 stars hotel in Trapani.
Day 2: villaggio di Erice
Breakfast in the hotel and check-out. On the second day, you’ll visit Erice. Erice is a medieval village that nearby Trapani overlooks the archipelago of Egadi Islands. Its ancient castle of Venus is famous for its panoramic position, from where you can admire the landscape of Trapani. With the guide, you’ll visit the main monuments of this old village and you are captured by its landscape. The lunch will be in a local restaurant. Before to leave don’t forget to taste the local pastry products, such as Mustaccioli, the Genovesi pastries. In the evening we transfer to Palermo in order to reach the hotel. Check-in, dinner, and overnight in 4 stars hotel in Palermo.
Day 3: Palermo
Breakfast in the hotel. Palermo, capital of Sicily. The 3rd day of this tour of Sicily will be dedicated to discovering this charming city, the biggest of the island. Through a walking tour, you’ll visit its incredible and lively city center in order to admire the Cathedral, the most famous streets, Quattro Canti (Four Corners), Piazza Pretoria, and Fontana Della Vergogna (Fountain of Shame), and much more. During the day you have also the opportunity to taste the typical street foods of the city: pane e Panelle, bread filled with Sicilian fritters made with chickpea flour; pane ca meusa, bread stuffed with veal spleen. Lunch in a typical restaurant in the town. Dinner and overnight in 4 stars hotel in Palermo.
Day 4: Palermo and Monreale
Breakfast in the hotel and check-out. In the morning we visit Palazzo Dei Normanni (Norman Royal Palace) with the Palatine Chapel, which testifies to the Norman domination in Sicily. In the afternoon we reach Monreale and the lunch will be there, in a typical place. In the afternoon we visit the historic center of Monreale. The city was founded by the Normans in the XII century. Interesting is the Cathedral inside which there are decoration mosaics that represent Jesus Christ, the Pantokrator, and the Monumental Cloister. In the evening we reach Cefalù. Check-in and dinner in a 4 stars hotel in Cefalù.
Day 5: Cefalù
Breakfast in the hotel. All the day is dedicated to discovering Cefalù. This town, not far from Palermo, is very famous in Sicily, especially for the seaside tourism and for art. The city center is characterized by narrow streets, ancient buildings and local craft shops specialized in the production of ceramic objects, located especially along Corso Ruggero. During this day you visit the main tourist places of the town, such as the Cathedral, the archaeological area, Temple of Diana, Byzantine fortified walls, Porta Pescara, etc. Lunch in a typical restaurant where you eat Sicilian seafood dishes. Dinner and overnight in 4 stars hotel in Palermo.
Day 6: Caccamo
Breakfast in hotel and check-out. In the morning we will leave our accommodation, moving towards Segesta. Here, we will admire the ancient theatre with its impressive views and the Doric temple while our guide will tell the history of this special site. Lunch in a typical restaurant At the end of the tour of Sicily, transfer to Catania or Palermo airport, or in the city of Messina. We will share a goodbye hoping to see you back in Sicily soon!

The reservations will have to be forwarded by 7 days before the event. The payment of the allowances has to be done at the time of the reservation, or by the period that the event takes place. The group will be entrusted to one or more than one guide or/and delegated representatives of Discover Messina Travel which will assist the activities during the days together with the architect Nino Principato, who will take care of the tours. It’s compulsory for the participants to carefully observe the rules given by the guides during the whole path, to follow the pre-established itinerary without getting far from the group unless given the permission and to respect the established time for the eventual free time. The guided tours are provided for walks with pedestrian paths, some of which are on the rise. During all of the activities, non-ambulatory guests have to be assisted by an escort that can help them. Discover Messina Travel, in exceptional situations or imputable reasons to the organization, will have the option to modify the program of the activities. The participation of minors is consented only if accompanied by someone that has parental rights or someone that stands for them. The participants note the detailed program, the travel time, the sites that will be visited and exempt Discover Messina Travel from any civic and penal responsibility for eventual delays, incidents and injuries that might happen during the tours and during transfers that are not to be imputable to the organization. Discover Messina Travel also reserves the right to cancel the event if the minimum number of 30 participants hasn’t been reached by 7 days before the event. As not provided by these general terms, Discover Messina Travel refers to the law in force.
