Although you can always travel to this place and enjoy it, the best time for traveling to Meteora is in the late spring, from March to May, and in the fall, from September to November. History of Meteora

Monasteries
Monasteries were built over time, and at some point in history, their number reached 24. Over time, things happened, and only 6 of them remained, which are now part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Meteora’s most essential constructions were built by monks who lived in the cave. In years of hard climbing with ropes and ladders, monks carried construction materials with them to build some of the most amazing places in the world. You can imagine how many lives were lost to build them.
One of the most important things to remember is that monasteries are holy places of peace. Therefore, respect has the value of gold. When entering them, you will need to pay 3 Euros, and also you have to follow the dress code which for women is a skirt, and for men, it is long pants and shirts. Also, please DO NOT take pictures of the monks without their full permission.
The distance between monasteries is a bit long, and the best way to enjoy them is probably a combination of driving and hiking. If you think they are not worth all the effort, just wait until you see the area’s view from above, which is worth hundreds of pictures. If you want the best place in the world to watch the sunset from the top of a rock, Meteora is the right place for you. Furthermore, toilets are not modern there, so it might be a good idea to visit a bathroom in town before visiting them.

Let me introduce you to my favorite monastery, St. Barbara. Since nuns inhabit it, you can expect to see some women’s taste in this place, and you will surely do. You only have to take a moment and look at the gardens of this place, which are so amazing. The nuns are so friendly and explainable as well.

St. Stephen is the easiest monastery to reach and requires almost no hiking. Like Rousanou, St. Stephen is also inhibited by the nuns. On the top rocks of this place, you can see the city from the sky’s point of view, which is impressive at night. The nuns of this place are quite interesting as they tell you great stories and show you the historical objects.
Kalambaka & Kastraki, the Forgotten Stories
There is a spot in the city that does not get enough attention. There is a church in the town that belongs to the Byzantine age and has been there for almost 25 centuries, about ten centuries older than the oldest monastery. However, it will remain under the shadow of the monasteries. Kastraki is also a place of history, where the nature and traditions of Greece bond together.
Most of the hotels are on the main street of Kalambaka, where you can find various hotels. You can choose where to stay by looking at your budget and choosing the luxury or the inexpensive ones. Also, you can find hotels in Kastraki village. They are mostly cheaper and smaller than those in the Kalambaka, but they give you incredible sights of the rocks since they are near them.
Food Culture
After exploring the monasteries, food can be an exciting option for Meteora as you can find authentic Greek food in Kalambaka. Moussaka, saganaki, gigantic beans, Valia Calda, and so many other names are the foods you can easily find in most Meteora restaurants. It is not hard to find restaurants, and most of them serve quality dishes. Also, Meteora’s food can be seasonal due to the ingredients that can be found in the place. For example, in summer, foods made with vegetables are more, but meat is much easier to see in the winter. Greek cuisine contains slow cooking, meat, and lots of olive oils.

Waterkloof Trail

Your other choice is a half-day trip to the southeast for the sake of visiting fabulous Welwitschia Mirabilis plants in the Namib desert. In a place where there is not even a drop of rain for decades, these plantsâ only water source is the air’s humidity. Welwitschia plants have lived longer than 1000 years and only can be found 40 to 120 km away from the coast into the desert. Be careful not to get too close to the plants, as their fragile roots can easily get destroyed. The species is highly endangered, and we should be cautious not to reduce them in any condition.

Getting there
There are various ways to get to Swakopmund. You can drive or get on a bus or a minibus on the B2 road from Windhoek to get there. If you enjoy wandering in Namibia, you can increase your travel hours by a 21 and a half train trip ending up in a train station worth visiting. You can also have a flight to Swakopmund Airport. There are also ships traveling from St Helena Island to Cape Town, which can deliver you to Walvis Bay, where you can take a cab to Swakopmund.
Getting around
Unfortunately, there are no public transports in the town. But the town is so small that you can wander to different places on foot. It is hard to find a taxi, but you may find some for the same taxis rate in Windhoek.

Yala National Park – 2nd National Park in Sri Lanka
 Yala National Park is a vast area in the Southeast corner of Sri Lanka with five main parts. These five blocks include fantastic jungles and seashores of the Indian Ocean. Travelers who are into natural destinations love Yala National park, and because of this popularity, it is the most visited national park in Sri Lanka. Also, it is the second-largest national park in this country.
These days, only the first and the fifth blocks are available to see for visitors, and other blocks are being banned in case of the importance of animal species living there. These blocks have individual names for the adjoining area, such as Ruhuna National Park, Block 1, and Kumana National Park or ‘Yala East.’ Its location is in the Southern Province and the Province of Uva, and the park occupies 979 square kilometers. In 1900, Yala was designated as a wildlife sanctuary and was one of the first two national parks in Sri Lanka, along with Wilpattu.Â
 There are six national parks and three wildlife sanctuaries in the neighborhood of Yala. Lunugamvehera National Park is amongst the highest. The Yala National park is in the dry semi-arid climatic area, and rain is received primarily during the northeast monsoon. Several habitats ranging from moist monsoon forests to freshwater and marine wetlands are present in Yala.

Animals In Yala National Park
Yala National Park is among Sri Lanka’s 70 Important Bird Areas (IBAs), and of the 215 bird species inhabiting here, seven are endemic to Sri Lanka. The number of waterbirds that inhabit the Yala wetlands is 90, half of which are migrants. Some of the uncommon birds present are black-necked storks: the white migrant pelican and the resident spot-billed pelican. The streams in Yala can maintain a large herd of Sri Lankan elephants in which there are 300-350 individuals. Yala National park has one of the highest leopard densities globally, and in Block I, 25 individual leopards are known to roam. There are 44 other species of mammals residing in Yala National Park.
The reptile fauna reported in the Yala National Park is 47, of which six are endemic. Five globally endangered sea turtles visit the Yala National’s coastline, and the two breeding Sri Lankan crocodile species, the mugger crocodile and the saltwater crocodile inhabit the Yala National. Among the other snakes are the Indian cobra and Russell’s viper. There are 18 amphibian species reported from Yala, and 21 freshwater fish occupy Yala’s watercourses. In the perennial reservoirs, the fish population includes mainly exotic Mozambique tilapia food fish, and the fauna in the lagoons also includes crabs and prawns. Several butterflies are present here, and the predominant species among them are the common bluebottle, lime butterfly, crimson rose, common Jezebel, and Mormon.
