Essaouira Full Day Trip from Marrakech — Atlantic Medina and Argan Coast

Your day begins with a pickup directly from your hotel or riad in Marrakech — if your accommodation is inside the medina and vehicles cannot access it, we will arrange a meeting point just a short walk away. Your dedicated local driver and tour companion will take you on an approximately 2.5-hour drive west across the Haouz Plain and through the argan tree forests of the Souss-Massa region — one of the most distinctive landscapes in Morocco and the only place in the world where argan trees grow wild.

Your companion will stop at a women's argan cooperative along the way, where you can see firsthand how argan oil is produced using traditional methods that have been practised for centuries — and of course taste and purchase the famous oil if you wish.

You arrive in Essaouira — a UNESCO World Heritage coastal medina unlike anywhere else in Morocco. Where Marrakech is warm, labyrinthine and intense, Essaouira is cool, open and windswept — a city of whitewashed walls, blue shutters, crashing Atlantic waves and the constant cry of seagulls overhead. Founded as a trading port in the 18th century, it has long attracted artists, musicians and travellers from around the world.

Your companion will guide you through the medina — past the ramparts, through the souks of spice, wood and silver, along the seafront fortifications and down to the fishing harbour where the blue boats bob in the Atlantic swell. You will have free time to explore, browse the artisan workshops, enjoy lunch at one of the wonderful seafood restaurants on the port — lunch is at your own expense and your companion will recommend the best spots — and walk the wild Atlantic beach if you wish.

Your companion will then drive you back to Marrakech, arriving in the early evening, and drop you off directly at your hotel or riad.
