The north Thailand tour begins with Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son and then ends in Chiang Rai. You will be visiting several towns and cities along your path as you go on adventures and experience some exciting activities along the journey. You get to see cultural and historical buildings such as temples and enjoy the sight of natural elements all around you. There are rivers and caves as well as an elephant safari, which you will be visiting before your tour comes to an end. You will stay in some of the best hotels and resorts available.
🏁 Tour Itinerary: Northern Thailand Tour
Day 1 – Bangkok – Chiang Mai – Mae Hong Son (L)
Flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and then catch the connecting flight from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son. On arrival at Mae Hong Son airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After a short rest, we will start the sightseeing tour with a visit to the Long Neck Karen Village by taking a boat along the Pai River. We will stop for lunch, after which we continue to visit The Phrathat Doi Kong Mu Temple in Mae Hong Son, located on the top of Kong Mu Mountain. From here we go on to visit Jong Kahm and Jong Klang Temples, then we drive back to the hotel where you are free at leisure for the rest of the evening.

Day 2 – Mae Hong Son – Chiang Mai (B, L)
Breakfast will be served at your hotel. Today we will travel to Chiang Mai, but first, we begin our day’s journey with a visit to the well-known and very beautiful breakfast that will be served at your hotel. Today we will travel to Chianul Fish Cave. Then we continue with a visit to the Lahu Tribe Village. Lahu is the second largest ethnic population in Mae Hong Son. Many years ago, the Lahu were very famous for their hunting, while the Lisu were known for their colorful, attractive dresses and clothing.
After this, we pay a visit to the Lod Cave to see one of the most important archaeological sites in the area which has a stream known as “Laang” that flows through from one end of the cave to the other. Then we drive back to the hotel in Chiang Mai for check-in, after which you are free at leisure.

Day 3 – Chiang Mai Elephant Safari and Doi Suthep (B, L)
Breakfast will be served at your hotel. Today we will enjoy seeing how the elephants help with the logging work and then will have the opportunity to enjoy an elephant ride (optional) of about 45 minutes. From here we continue about 30 minutes by ox-cart. Lunch will then be provided, after which you will enjoy the natural beauty of the countryside by bamboo rafting along the river. We will also visit the beautiful Orchid Farm.
We travel onward to visit Wat Doi Suthep, the most sacred temple in Chiang Mai which is said to contain a holy relic of the Lord Buddha, after which we travel back to the hotel where you are free at leisure. (Cable car at Doi Suthep is not included in the tour price.)

Day 4 – Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai (B, L)
Today we leave from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. On the way, we will visit some of the most famous local industries in the Sankampang District to see silk weaving, umbrella making, wood carving, and silverware making. After that, we drive to the hotel in Chiang Rai for check-in where you are then free at leisure for the remainder of the evening.

Day 5 – Chiang Rai – Chiang Saen – Golden Triangle (B, L)
Breakfast will be served at the hotel. After breakfast, we travel to visit Chiang Saen by taking a boat for approximately 30 minutes along the Mae Kong River and then continue on to the Golden Triangle and the Village of Mae Sai (on the Burmese border). Lunch will be provided. Then we pay a visit to the Akha and Yao Hill Tribe Villages and have the chance to walk around and observe their lifestyle, after which we transfer for check-in at the hotel.

Day 6 – Departure from Chiang Rai to Bangkok (B, L)
Breakfast will be served at your hotel. Today we will visit the highest peak on the Thai-Myanmar Border, Doitung, which provides an opportunity to view the routes to many different Lahu and Akha villages as well as the terraced farming areas and, from a distance, the late Princess Mother’s beautiful flower garden. Doitung Temple is located at the peak of this mountain and overlooks the entire northern rice field plain. From there we make the journey to Chiang Rai Airport for your flights back to Bangkok.
