🏁 Tour Itinerary: Nepal Bhutan Tour – 15 Days

Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Hotel

You will arrive at Kathmandu airport. Upon arrival meet your airport officer who will be holding a placard (sing board) with your name outside Arrival Hall at the International airport. You will get transferred to your hotel located in the city center.

Day 2: Full-day Sightseeing Tour – 4 UNESCO Sites Visits

Your sightseeing tours begin after breakfast. Your guide will come to your hotel and meet you at the hotel lobby at 0930 am. You will proceed with the sightseeing tour of the Pashupatinath temple located on the bank of the Bagmati River. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is often known as the “abode of Shiva”. Only Hindus are permitted to enter inside the temple complex for worship however others can go to another side of the temple to see the rituals of Hindu people and morning activities. You will also witness the rare ceremony of funerals as per Hindu traditions at cremation ghats on the bank of the holy river Bagmati.

After visiting at Pashupatinath temple, you will proceed to the Boudhnath stupa located 3 Kilometers away from the temple. Boudhnath stupa is also known as “Mini Tibet” and is one of the largest Buddhist stupas in Nepal. This stupa is surrounded by Tibetan settlements and monasteries. You will witness Buddhist rituals and traditions at the Boudhnath area which is en-circle by Buddhist prayer flags and mane.

In the afternoon you will drive to Swoyambhunath stupa located on the hilltop overlooking Kathmandu valley. This Buddhist stupa is famous as the “Monkey temple: and one of the best places to observe cultural harmony between Hindus and Buddhists in Nepal. Both Hindus and Buddhist pay homage to this site.

Continue to Patan Durbar Square another UNESCO site located in Kathmandu. Patan is known as the “City of Beauty” and a visit to Patan Durbar Square offers an excellent opportunity to see local Newari people, ancient Royal complexes, and architecture of the medieval era. Stroll narrow lanes of Patan visiting Patan Durbar Square, Krishna temple, Mahabodhi stupa, and Golden temple. Patan is also famous for metal works and wood carvings.

Day 3: Bhaktapur City visit & Drive Nagarkot Hill Station

The morning after breakfast, your guide will come and meet you at your hotel. You will drive 14 Kilometer east to Kathmandu to visit the best-preserved ancient city of Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur is also called the cultural hub of the Newari people. Many of the highly decorated buildings and shrines were destroyed in the 1934 & 2015 earthquakes. However, the main square still contains a few temples and other architectural showpieces; the Lion Gate, the statue of Bhupatindra Malla, the Palace of 55 windows, the Bell of the barking dogs, the Nyatapola temple, and the replica of Pashupatinath temple.

In Bhaktapur, you will observe the Newari people with traditional and daily work. Narrow lanes of Bhaktapur offer bargain prices for the Thankas “Oil painting on Silk” which you can buy if interested.

Your guide will see off you at Bhaktapur and you will continue your drive to Nagarkot hill station with your driver. Nagarkot is located 38 Kilometers from Kathmandu. Nagarkot is popular for its incredible sunrise and sunset view over the Himalayas. You can see 8 out of 13 Himalayan ranges in Nepal from this place located at an altitude of 2100 meters. You have free time to stroll around the place or can relax at the hotel with a splendid view of the sunset. If the weather is very clear then you can also see Mount Everest – the highest peak in the world.

Day 4: Drive to Chitwan – 205 Kms – 8 Hrs & Jungle activities

The morning after breakfast at 07:30 am, your driver will pick you up for the drive to Chitwan along a scenic mountain highway. Chitwan is one of the finest national parks in Asia and is famous for viewing wildlife such as One Horn Rhino, Tiger, Deer, and other wild flora and fauna in its natural habitat. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by naturalists from your lodge. You will enjoy lunch at the dining complex followed by the activities briefing.

Today you will enjoy a Jungle walk inside the forest escorted by a local naturalist from the lodge. You will continue with the visit to Tharu villages located on the edge of the parking area. Tharu people are indigenous people from the plains region of Nepal and have their own lifestyle and culture. In the evening you will enjoy Tharu Stick Dance.

Day 5: Full-Day Jungle Activities

Morning enjoys Canoe ride at Rapti river to see water birds and Crocodiles. After the Canoe ride, you will enjoy Elephant briefing and the breeding center.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a Jeep safari to see the wildlife of Nepal. Today’s highlight will be spotting one horn Rhino in a dense forest. If you are lucky then you can also see Tiger. After the safari, you will be back at the hotel.

Day 6: Drive to Pokhara (145 Kms/5 Hrs)

Morning drive to Pokhara. Pokhara is famous for its wonderful views of the Himalayas and its snow-fed lakes. The reflection of the Mt. Fishtail & Annapurna range on Lake Phewa is breathtaking. Pokhara is also a base camp for trekking on the Annapurna region with other day hike tours around the valley rim. Free day on own to stroll around Phewa Lakeside area.

Day 7: Sarangkot Sunrise & Pokhara City Tour with Boat Ride

Early morning, excursion to Sarangkot to see the sunrise over Mt. Annapurna, Dhaulagiri massif & Mt. Fishtail. Return to the hotel for breakfast.

Afternoon, commence on a Pokhara city tour which includes Bindavashini temple, Seti Gorge, Devi’s fall & Gupteshwor Mahadev cave. We will provide a complimentary boat ride at Phewa Lake in Pokhara.

Day 8: Drive to Kathmandu (200 Kms/6 Hrs)

Drive back to Kathmandu retracing the same highway. Check-in at the hotel.

Day 9: Fly Kathmandu/Paro & drive to Thimpu

Transfer to Kathmandu airport in time to board a flight to Paro. Arrive in Paro by Druk Air flight. The flight offers you a beautiful view of mountains and landscapes. On arrival and after visa formalities you will be received by our representative and transferred to Thimphu (54 km, 1 & 1/2 hrs). The evening is free to stroll around Thimpu town on its own.

Day 10: Thimpu Sightseeing tour

Morning, visit the Buddha Park – largest Buddha statue, Painting school, National library, Royal goldsmith workshop, and Handicraft centers.

Afternoon, visit the Memorial Chorten built-in memory of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, 15-century Changangkha monastery, Motithang mini zoo to see the rare “Takin” national animal of Bhutan and drive further down with the good view of the Thimphu valley. Visit the new Drupthob nunnery temple and have free time in the market.

Day 11: Drive to Punakha & visit Punakha Dzong

Morning, drive to Punakha. In Punakha visit the Punakha Dzong which served as the old capital of Bhutan. This remarkable fortress is built between two rivers and has survived many glacial floods and fire. Every year during the month of February a procession known as the Punakha Serda takes place to commemorate the victory over the Tibetans.

En-route visit the oldest building in Bhutan, the Simtokha Dzong. It now serves as a Buddhist university.

Day 12: Drive to Paro

Morning, drive back to Paro. Check-in at the hotel. Later visit the ruined fortress of Drugyel dzong which still attracts visitors due to the strategic location of the fort. The fort defended the Paro valley from the Tibetan invasion from the north in the early 17th century. On clear weather Mount Chomolhari 7320 meters can be seen towering over the dzong. Proceed through the beautiful valley to the watch tower locally known as Ta-Dzong. It was housed in the National Museum in the 1960s by the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The seven floors museum highlights various aspects of Bhutanese culture and history dating back to the 7th century. Short walk downhill to the Rinpung Dzong which serves as the administrative center and school for monks. Walk further down crossing the traditional bridge into Paro Town.

Day 13: Takshang Monastery Hike

Morning, hike to Takshang monastery also known as “Tiger Nest”. The hike which is all the way uphill takes about 3/4 hours through pine forests (total walk 4/5hrs). The monastery clings to a huge granite cliff 800 meters from the Paro valley. It is believed that the great saint Padmasambhava came in the 7th century on a flying tigress and meditated in a cave for 3 months. The demons were subdued who were trying to stop the spread of Buddhism and converted the Paro valley into Buddhism. During the end of the 17 century, a monastery was built on the spot where the saint mediated and it is a pilgrimage site for every Bhutanese to visit once in their lifetime. On return visit Kichu Lakhang.

Day 14: Fly to Kathmandu

Transfer to Paro Airport in time to board your flight for Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
