Each of these magnificent cities has its own special charm and all are well worth exploring. this tour gives you a chance to explore the imperial cities of Morocco and learn about their history and culture. After the imperial cities, you will drive down to admire the beauty of the Sahara desert with the camel ride and then you go back to Marrakech crossing the High Atlas Mountains.

🏁 Tour Itinerary: 10 Days Morocco Imperial Cities

Day 1: Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco! Be sure to arrive in time for your pre-departure meeting at 6:00 pm, an arrival transfer from Marrakech airport is included on day 1. Your first night will be spent at our pre-expedition hotel. Tonight we enjoy a traditional dinner in the hotel.

🏚️Accommodation: Overnight in Marrakech.

 

Day 2: Marrakech to Rabat (B)

En-route this morning we travel up to Casablanca made famous by Humphrey Bogart in the film “ Casablanca”. We will visit the stunning Hassan 2 Mosque, which has the tallest minaret and the third largest mosque in the world – it can hold 25,000 worshippers at any one time, afterward we travel to the capital of Morocco Rabat Overnight.

Day 3: Rabat to Fes (B)

Today in Rabat we visit the highlights of the city, which are the Hassan tower, Oudaya Kasbah, and Royal Palace. Moving on to the imperial city of Fes, we make a lunch stop in Meknes, also known as the Versailles of Morocco Surrounded by fertile ground, coupled with its impressive buildings and history, we can see why Meknes is one of the four Imperial Cities of Morocco. We’ll then move on to bustling Fes this afternoon stopping on the route in Volubilis for a guided tour.

Day 4: Fes (B)

Fes is the oldest and largest medieval city in the world. Its medina is a heady mix of aromas, sounds, and sights. To navigate, we are going to follow our local guide who knows every alley in the medina. There are plenty of mosques and palaces to visit, but be aware that only Muslims can enter Mosques in Morocco. After exploring dye-pits, tanneries, and restaurants, we return to our hotel to prepare for an optional night of Moroccan entertainment and food at a restaurant in town.

Day 5: Fes to Midelt (B, D)

This morning we journey over the Moyen Atlas to stop at Midelt, which is a beautiful alpine area. Surrounded by huge pine trees, this tranquil mountain setting is a great spot to cool down and relax after the hustle and bustle of Fes. We will enjoy a small hike in the afternoon, before spending the night in this mountain location.

Day 6: Midelt to Sahara Desert (ERG Chebbi) – (B, L, D)

Today we enjoy a stunning drive and are rewarded with a fantastic Moroccan lunch and an afternoon relaxing and swimming. It is then time to head towards the great desert and Merzouga, where we transfer to camels for a trek into the Sahara Desert for a night at our Berber Camp. We enjoy local food, music, and an amazing night out under the Saharan stars.

Day 7: Sahara to Toudra Gorges (B, D)

Leaving the desert, we move on to Todra Gorge. This 1000ft gorge is hemmed in on all sides by vertical limestone cliffs and is also called Morocco’s Grand Canyon. We will have an early lunch at the hotel. The afternoon can be spent exploring the Gorge, walking through the Palmerie, or trying our optional activity of Rock Climbing. The charm of Todra lies in its changing colors as the sun slowly moves from east to west.

Day 8: Toudra Gorges to Ait Benhaddou (B, D)

We must bid a fond farewell to Todra this morning en-route to Ait Benhaddou via Ouarzazate. We will stop for lunch along the way and have a chance for an optional tour of the Film Studios in Ouarzazate, famous for films such as Gladiators, The Last Temptation of Christ, and the Living daylights. On a hill along the Ouarzazate River, we find Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which boasts great examples of Kasbahs, some of which remain inhabited. This afternoon we have a guided tour of the famous Kasbah and village.

Day 9: Ait Benhaddou to Marrakech (B)

We traverse the High Atlas today enjoying stunning views en route to Marrakech. We will take a guided tour of the city this afternoon. Marrakech set against the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Its great pride and landmark are the Koutoubia Tower, sister to the Tower of Hassan in Rabat, and the Giralda Tower in Seville. No visit to the city is complete without a visit to the city’s UNESCO-listed medina & Djemâa-el-Fna, an extraordinary gathering, and marketplace. The rest of the afternoon you have free time to relax by the pool or do a little shopping for souvenirs before we meet for the last group evening meal.

Day 10: Departure (B)

Your adventure tour ends after breakfast. Spend the morning buying souvenirs before check out at midday.
