From Agrigento Temples to Piazza Armerina, visiting Sicily is also an opportunity to get close to the Mediterranean flavors, tasting the local recipes of Sicilian cookery tradition and delicious wines. Our tour guide will lead you to discover also Caltagirone, the homeland of the famous and colorful Sicilian ceramics, with its rich historical center, ranked between late baroque cities of the Valley of Noto and also famous for its handcrafted Nativity Cribs that can be visited all year long.
🏁 Tour Itinerary: Sicily Tour – Agrigento Temples to Piazza Armerina
Day 1: Selinunte e Agrigento – centro storico
Pick-up and hotel check-in. You will be welcomed by your tour guide at the airport of Catania or Palermo, or in the city center of Messina. The 3 days Sicily tour starts with the visit to Selinunte, the acropoli, and the stunning temples. Our tour of Sicily continues with a guided walking tour in the city center of Agrigento, where you will visit the Cathedral of Saint Gerlando, the Church Santa Maria dei Greci, the Church of Saint Lawrence, and the Basilica of Immacolata. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 2: Templi di Agrigento e Villa Romana Sicilia
Breakfast in the hotel. During the morning we will visit the Archaeological Park of Agrigento Temples, where you will experience the majesty of the Greek temples of the colony of Akragas, a step back to the VI-V century B.C. The tour will continue with the famous Villa Romana Sicily in Piazza Armerina, a beautiful example in Sicily of Roman Domus, an elegant residence enriched by well-preserved mosaics of the late imperial age. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 3: Caltagirone
Breakfast in hotel, check-out. The last day of our tour will lead us to the discovery of Caltagirone with its Public Gardens, the Staircase Santa Maria del Monte, the Church Santa Maria Della Scala, the Cathedral of Saint Julian, baroque noble palaces along the way and we will also experience the production of Sicilian ceramics visiting a workshop. At the end of the tour, transfer to the airport (or city center of Messina).
