🏁 Tour Itinerary: Sri Lanka Luxury Tour with Nature & Beach

Day 1: Airport – Negombo (L, D)

On arrival & you will meet our chauffeur/ National Guide, who greet at the Bandaranayke International Airport. Thereafter you will transfer to your hotel in Negombo. Upon arrival at the hotel, check in to the hotel and relax. your amazing journey to Sri Lanka begins.

Day 2: Negombo – Wilpattu (B, L, D)

Breakfast at the hotel’s main restaurant, Today we will leave early from the hotel to Wilpattu for doing an evening safari at Wilpattu National Park.
Upon arrival at Back Water & check in to the hotel & relax in a few hours. Your first safari will begin at 1500hrs. Wilpattu National Park is the largest national park in Sri Lanka. It is home to many diverse forest types. It was one of the first parks to open in Sri Lanka, and thus has a rich heritage. There are over 30 recorded mammalian species inside Wilpattu. Apart from leopards and sloth bears there are also Sri Lankan elephants and spotted deer. Wetland bird species such as the Pintail, Whistling Teal Spoonbill, and the White Ibis can also be found in the Wilpattu National Park.
Return to the campsite after the safari where it is lit with traditional flame torches and a roaring campfire.

Day 3: Wilpattu (B, L, D)

Today you will embark on a full day safari at the Wilpattu National Park; we will leave around 0600hrs from the campsite. However, you will be served a packed breakfast and lunch during the safari. We will be providing plenty of soft drinks and water to keep you hydrated, where you can enjoy the real wilderness of the country.
You will be returning to the campsite to relax before we invite you to enjoy your dinner.

Day 4: Wilpattu  – Sigiriya (B, L D)

Breakfast at the Campsite, your next destination would be Sigirya. Upon arrival in Sigiriya & check in to the hotel. After you will be starting to walk around the local village of “Thalkote Wewa” in Sigiriya. On completion, you will be climbing to Sigiriya Lion Rock. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, a spectacular Rock. The fortress is one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions. The most impressive facets of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform, and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, which was completely covered by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory. Built by King Kashyapa (477-495 A.D), the “Lion Rock” is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200m from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70-hectare fortified town and the base is ringed by a moat, rampart, and extensive gardens. The world-renowned frescoes (originally 500, of which only 19 remain today) which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway are
painted in earth pigments on plaster. The old stairway to the top led through the mouth of a crouching lion but today only the huge paws remain giving an indication of the massive proportions of the head. Remains of the handsome royal citadel are on the summit and several caves for meditation, audience platforms, and baths complete the unique site.

Day 5: Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa- Sigiriya (B, L, D)

Breakfast at the main restaurant in the hotel. Today you will visit another important cultural place in Sri Lanka, Polonnaruwa.
Polonnaruwa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rose to fame as the capital (10th – 12th century AD) after the decline of Anuradhapura. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs, the most famous of which is the Parakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama, larger in size than the Colombo harbor. The monuments are relatively well preserved and give clear evidence of the glory of Sri Lanka’s past.
Highlights are the Royal Palace complex including the King’s Palace and Audience Hall, the Quadrangle with its concentration of ancient heritage, and the spectacular Gal Vihare complex of four massive images of the
Buddha, cut from a single slab of granite – a highlight of ancient Sri Lankan rock carving. Some of the best examples of the Hindu influence – the Temples of Shiva, intricate statues of Hindu Gods, fascinating Buddhist
temples, the Lankatileka and Watadage, the Galpotha, the Lotus bath, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba, and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth are other impressive sights. On completion return to Sigiriya and you will proceed to Hiriwadunna village in Sigiriya. You will be starting a village safari. Hiriwadunna is just 30 minutes drive from Sigiriya.
Trek through the archetypal Sri Lankan Typical village. The trek begins with an awesome walk along a bund of a Wewa or manmade reservoir. The reservoir itself, the surrounding scrub jungle, marshland, and village are a hive of early morning or evening activity. The amazing birdlife, butterflies, and possible sightings of crocodiles only add to the charm of seeing the villagers as they go about their early morning tasks of fishing, or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake.
You will continue your tour with a bullock cart ride up to a village house where you can experience a Sri Lankan Lunch. Return to the hotel.

Day 6: Sigiriya – Anuradhapura – Sigiriya  (B, L, D)

You will be served breakfast at the main restaurant in the hotel, today your next cultural excursion would be in Anuradhapura. You will explore the Anuradhapura historical site.
The Ancient city of Anuradhapura stood tall for over a thousand years, from the 05th Century B.C. to the end of the 10th Century A.D. this was the most celebrated of Sri Lanka’s ancient ruined cities. The city’s greatest
treasures are its dagobas constructed of bricks and are hemispherical in shape. The city’s most renowned relic is the sacred Bo Tree, which is said to have grown from a branch of the tree under which the Buddha gained
Enlightenment. It was planted 2250 years ago and is the oldest historically authenticated tree in the world. In fact, Anuradhapura is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. On completion, you will be back at the hotel.

Day 7: Sigiriya – Kandy (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will leave towards Kandy. Upon arrival at the hotel check in to the hotel. Today you will be observing Kandy city including the Temple of Tooth Relic. Temple of the tooth, is the most important place for the present Buddhist because it is the final resting place of the sacred tooth relic of Buddha known as “Sri Dalada Maligawa.” It is famous for its carvings and the beautiful art that is unique to Sri Lanka. The most important part of the Dalada Maligawa is the octagon (Pathirppuwa). Thousands of people line up each day to get a glimpse of its majesty. Kandy is also one of the most beautiful cities of Sri Lanka with its picturesque lake built by its last king, it’s hills surrounding the city, it’s devales the oldest the Natha devale belonging to the 14th century and the palace of the last king of Kandy which are presently the districts courts and the archaeological museum. Kandy also is the center for Buddhist cultural affairs with meditation centers and Buddhist publication societies. On completion, you will explore Kandy city.
Kandy a lovely city, the Hill Capital, and the last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings retains an aura of grandeur, which time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its center, it is the site of the renowned “Temple of the Tooth” and the Royal Botanical gardens home to one of the best collections of Orchids. Kandy and its satellite villages are the centers of the island’s handicraft industry and its traditional dances are the most spectacular in the country.

Day 8: Kandy (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will be meeting a famous painter Raju. You will visit his art gallery and enjoy a cup of tea/ coffee with him. On completion, you will visit to explore the Peradeniya Botanical Garden.
Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya is one of the best botanical gardens in Sri Lanka, and one of the most beautiful in Asia. It is located just 6 km from Kandy, the second-largest city in Sri Lanka. The botanical gardens are huge & well-organized gardens, It is renowned for the collection of a variety of Orchids, and has more than 300 varieties of Orchids, spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees attach it is the National Herbarium. The total landmass of the botanical garden is 147 acres; it is managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture. The origins of the Botanic Gardens date as far back. The Classical Avenue of Palms is located in this Garden. One tree with a significant history is the Cannonball Tree planted by King George V of the United Kingdom and Queen Mary in 1901. The tree is bent with its fruit which looks like Cannon Ball, which is how it came to be named.
On completion, you will return to Kandy and you are watching the Kandyan Cultural Dancing show at YMBA.
Sri Lanka, a country rich with culture & tradition offers a very vibrant and unique show of Sri Lankan traditional dances, in the form of a Kandy cultural show. The beat a dancing from “Salupliya” depicting several demons, “Thelme” vibrant expression of low country rhythm, Fire and Harvest dances accompanied by Ceremonial Drums and the Drum Orchestra rising and falling to the lively tempo. As many as 12 different folks and traditional dances are performed within the span of one hour.

Day 10: Kandy – Hatton (B, L, D)

Breakfast at the Hotel. This morning will proceed further up in the Hill Country towards Hatton and we use the railway for this transfer to give you an unforgettable experience and amazing views on the route. Upon arrival in Hatton, you will be taken to your Hotel and the rest of the day will be spent at leisure.
However, you have the option to enjoy various activities provided by Governors Mansions. A separate document will be shared with all activities that could be done at Dickoya by Jetwing. On completion, return to the hotel.

Day 10: Hatton (B, L, D)

After breakfast at around 0900HRS, we will visit the Tea Factory and experience how the world’s finest tea is being produced. A resident planter will take you through from the history of picking tea leaves to how the final product is made. You also get the opportunity to enjoy a cup of fresh tea. For the rest of the day, we will stay at leisure and enjoy the amazing views surrounding us. There are numerous activities you may experience whilst stay at Dickoya by Jetwing.

Day 11: Hatton – Galle (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will depart from Governors Mansions to Tangalle. En-route visit exploring Galle city. The port of Galle, thought by some to be the Biblical city of Tarshish, splendidly illustrates the solidity of the
The Dutch presence in Sri Lanka. The 36-hectare (89 acres) Dutch Fort, built-in 1663, has withstood the ravages of time. Its massive ramparts surround the promontory that forms the older part of Galle, and shelter within its walls sturdy Dutch houses, museums, and churches. This area has a quiet, relaxed atmosphere that seems almost detached from the flow of history. The New Oriental Hotel, built for Dutch governors in 1684, is a colonial gem with a wonderfully atmospheric bar. Nearby is a tiny sliver of a beach suitable for a dip, though most travelers prefer to head along the coast to the fine beaches at Unawatuna, Weligama, and Tangalla. Upon arrival in Tangalle & check in to the hotel. You will spend at leisure.
