Itinerary

Day 1
  • Umbwe Gate

    Your journey begins at Umbwe Gate, trekking through a dense, lush rainforest. This route is known for being steep and physically demanding right from the start.

    ​Duration: 5–7 hours

Day 2
  • You will exit the forest and enter the moorland zone. The trail climbs sharply along a spectacular ridge that offers breathtaking views of the valley below.

    ​Distance: 6 km
    ​Duration: 4–5 hours

Day 3
  • Start the day by conquering the famous Great Barranco Wall

    Start the day by conquering the famous Great Barranco Wall. Afterward, you will navigate a series of ridges and valleys to reach Karanga Camp, which is essential for proper acclimatization.

    ​Distance: 5 km

Day 4
  • Barafu Camp

    The trek continues through the alpine desert toward Barafu Camp, your final base before the summit. You will rest early here to prepare for the midnight summit push.

Day 5
  • The summit attempt begins around midnight

    The summit attempt begins around midnight. You will reach Stella Point and eventually Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After the celebration, you will descend to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.

Day 6
  • Mweka Gate

    A final, steady descent through the tropical rainforest leads you to Mweka Gate. Here, you will collect your official certificates of achievement.
