This two-hour workshop in Đống Đa, Hanoi, offers a hands-on introduction to the traditional craft of indigo dyeing, practiced by the Black Tay and other ethnic minority communities in Northern Vietnam. Guided by an English-speaking local artisan, you’ll use natural indigo dye extracted from the Indigofera plant and all necessary materials to create your own indigo-dyed handkerchief. The experience includes a welcome herbal tea and supports sustainable practices by promoting organic indigo farming and ethical livelihoods for over 120 local producers, including disabled and deaf artisans. This workshop suits travelers interested in cultural heritage, environmental responsibility, and engaging directly with traditional crafts.
