Things To Do in Nafplion

Bourtzi Castle
Bourtzi Castle, along with the Palamidi Fortress, is the most ancient well-admired attraction of Nafplion. Venetians built it in the 1400s as a defensive measure. The structure, also known as Castello Dello Soglio, lies on a rock island, delivering you spectacular views of the entire town. At first, it was part of Nafplion’s fortifications to protect the city from pirate attacks and invasions. From the top of the ramparts, Bourtzi Castle provides visitors with the chance to explore the land surrounded by the Argolic Gulf’s azure waters.

Komboloi Museum
A couple named Aris Evangelinos and Rallou Gromitsari founded the first Komboloi Museum in Nafplion in April 1998. It houses thousands of Kombolois and prayer beads from different countries dating from 1550 to 1950. The two-story museum is accommodated with the private workshop and the Museum shop on the ground floor displaying various new and copies of old kombolois made of natural materials. You’ll find the halls with examples of Greek beads on the second floor.

Arvanitia Beach
Arvanitia Beach, located below Palamidi castle, is the closest beach to the center of Nafplion. The 200-meter long beach with clear waters and white pebbles houses many umbrellas and sun loungers for tourists to rent. The cafés on the rocks above the east side of the beach provide you with mouthwatering lunches. Take a sunset bath and refresh after a day of sightseeing at this plunge.

Fortress of Palamidi
Renowned for its 999 steps, this charming citadel was constructed by the Venetians between 1711 and 1714. It’s one of the most prominent and best-preserved castles in Greece, situated within the Nafplion main square. If you want to keep your shape, go up the steps of the fortress. It’s really a gorgeous and unforgettable place with plenty of striking sceneries of both Nafplion and the stunning scenery around.

Archaeological Museum of Nafplion
The Archaeological Museum is located on the west of Syntagma Square in Nafplion’s Old Town center. It exhibits artifacts from excavations of the general Argolis area, including rare Mesolithic objects from the Franchthi cave, contents from several Bronze Age settlements and tombs, and later Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic items.
