Moshi to Marangu Gate

The day begins with a drive from Moshi to the Marangu Gate. After completing the park registration, you will meet your mountain guides and begin the trek.

Rainforest Trek to Mandara Hut

​You will hike through the dense, tropical rainforest. This zone is home to blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and various exotic bird species. The trail is well-maintained and offers a gentle introduction to the mountain.

​Trekking Time: 3 - 4 hours (Ascent)

Mandara Hut and Maundi Crater

​Upon reaching Mandara Hut, you will have lunch. If time and energy permit, you can take a short 15-minute walk to Maundi Crater for panoramic views of Northern Tanzania and across to Kenya.

Descent to Marangu Gate

After enjoying the views and your lunch, you will begin the descent back through the rainforest to the park gate. A vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to Moshi.
