Itinerary
A word about museums
Here you are inside one of the largest fortified structures in Europe and undoubtedly the most beautiful in Italy. It is the most important artistic space in Milan.
Sempione Park and Mermaid Bridge
After so many cultures, there's nothing like a little bit of fresh air. The beautiful Sempione Park, in English fashion, offers 40 hectares to stroll and take a break from the city.
View of the Arco della Pace
The beautiful Triumphal Arch that you see on the other side of the park is the Arco della Pace, translate the Arch of Peace. If it reminds you of its Parisian counterpart, it's because it was built in 1807, during the Napoleonic era.
The Via Dante Perspective
The Via Dante, which you are now taking, connects Sforza Castle to Duomo Square. It was opened in 1888 as a road link with the castle! No wonder it's the busiest street in Milan!
The Roman Theater
The remains of the Roman era are discreet in Milan. But know that the city was an important Roman city.
The Dito
Stop by the business square to see this insolent and surprising statue. It was offered by the famous contemporary artist Maurizio Cattelan, on the sole condition that it be placed in front of the Stock Exchange.
The Duomo
You are blown away and for good reason! You are now face to face with one of the largest and tallest cathedrals in the world!
The Octagon of the Galleries
At the intersection of the two galleries is what is called, you can guess why, the octagon. Overlooked by an impressive dome and surrounded by allegories of the 4 continents, this crossroads is a real wonder!
Market Square
In medieval times, you would be here, in the heart of the city. Piazza Mercanti was the commercial and governmental center of Milan.
Duomo Square
You can feel it, you know it, you are in the central square of Milan. This is where the heart of the city beats and where everything starts.
The Royal Palace
You now see the Royal Palace built on the initiative of Maria Theresa of Austria, when the Duchy of Milan was in the hands of the House of Habsburgs.
Emmanuel II Galleries
Entering the most beautiful gallery in Europe is a sensation and your eyes are immediately drawn to its sumptuous and impressive glass roof!
Marino Palace
Here you are in front of the Palazzo Marino. This palace is a remarkable 15th century mansion, built for a family of wealthy Genoese bankers.
Place San Fedele
You are in San Fedele Square in front of its Jesuit church of the same name. It is the first residence of the Jesuits in Milan.
Corso Vittorio Emanuele Secondo
You cross the artery that connects Duomo Square to San Babila Square. It's the city's second pedestrian zone and the perfect spot if you want to do a bit of shopping.
San Bernardino Alle Ossa Church
Another church, you will tell me. So, far from me the idea of showing you all the churches in Milan, but believe me, enter the small adjacent building, just to the left of the church, and you will see that it is actually an ossuary!
La Scala
Don't judge a book by its cover. This is an expression that makes perfect sense here. So yes, you are disappointed.
Brera Botanical Garden
A true oasis in the center of Milan, this botanical garden is a charming surprise that leads you straight to the famous Brera Palace and its famous Pinacoteca.
Brera Palace
You have now arrived in front of the famous Brera Palace, which includes several institutions. The Brera Art Gallery is one of the most important museums in Italy along with the Uffizi Museum in Florence and the Vatican Museums in Rome.
The Statue of Napoleon
A word about the statue of Napoleon that you see in the center of the courtyard. The emperor is represented as the unarmed and peacemaking God Mars. A triumphant nude destined to end up in a hall and not in a square.
Brera district
You are in the heart of a bohemian, artistic and picturesque neighborhood. Welcome to the center of Brera. Small streets paved as we like them, dotted with shops, bars and restaurants.
Museum of Art and Science
This sublime building on the corner is the Bonacossa Palace where the Milan Museum of Art and Science is located. The museum is located in the former San Vittore monastery founded in the 16th century.
Sforza Castle
An emblematic figure of Milan, the Sforza Castle alone tells the whole story of the city. From its fortress era to today's museums, the castle has been the scene of numerous foreign dominations.
