🏁 Tour Itinerary: 4 Days & 3 Nights Seven Churches

Day 1: Pergamum & Smyrna (L)

Upon arrival at Izmir Airport greeted by your guide or meet at the hotel and set off to Pergamum.  As one of the seven churches addressed in the Book of Revelation, the city of Pergamum was the core of a vast kingdom in the Hellenistic era that maintained its status as a political and cultural leader into the Byzantine period. Its Acropolis, which rises 1300 feet above the lower city located on the plain of the Caicus River, is a must-see with its monuments and constructions dating back to the Hellenistic Age. You’ll proceed to the Asklepion and discover one of the earliest known medical complexes dedicated to the god of health, Asklepios, son of Apollo. The treatment techniques used by the famous doctor Galenos here, including healing water, mud cure, sports, theater psychotherapy, are considered as the very foundations of modern medicine. After the tour, drive you to Izmir and visit Smyrna, was the second city to receive a letter from the apostle John in the book of Revelation. Acts 19:10 suggests that the church there was founded during Paul’s third missionary journey. Check-in hotel.Overnight in Izmir.

Day 2: Sardis, Thyatira, Philadelphia (B, L)

According to your pick-up time, meet with your guide at the lobby of the hotel Thyatira that was “Praised for its increasing faith and service, but criticized for its tolerance of Jezebel, an immoral woman who calls herself a prophetess” (Rev. 2:18-29). Then we head to Sardis, located on the banks of the Pactolus River in western Asia Minor. “The church of Sardes was described as dead, and it must wake up. However, there are some who have not “soiled their clothes.” (Rev. 3:1-6). The last place that will be visiting ancient Philadelphia was known for its variety of temples and worship centers.“The church of brotherly love that endures patiently” (Revelation 3:7-13). Laodicea was founded in 3rd C BC as a Hellenistic town after the death of Alexander the Great. The city is at the crossroads of important routes of antiquity depending on the convenient topography for military, administrative and economic facilities so it became one of the main hubs in Asia Minor in Roman times. Hierapolis; an ancient city of pagan cults, Hierapolis or “holy city” was evangelized by Paul and Epaphras. The Apostle Philip lived and is said to be buried here. Pamukkale, or “cotton castle” is a spa and resort center with its hot springs and cascading limestone pools. Col. 4:12-13. After the tour, You will be back to Kusadasi and check-in hotel. Overnight in Kusadasi.

Day 3: Ephesus (B, L)

According to your pick-up time, meet with your guide and start visiting Ephesus today is one of the most well-preserved ancient cities and the most important of the Seven Churches of Asia Minor. It is thought that the Gospel of John was written here. The Temple of Artemision is of the Seven Wonders of the Antic world. It is located in only one place in the world where you can see 3 different religious ‘ worship places as Temple, Mosque, and Church in the same area. Next; Saint John Church, the Evangelist St. John had spent his last years in this region and buried in the southern slope of Ayosolug Hill. The tomb of St John was under the central dome. Virgin Mary House, is located on the top of the “Bulbul” mountain 9 km ahead of Ephesus, the shrine of the Virgin Mary enjoys a marvelous atmosphere hidden in the green. It is the place and believed where Mary have spent her last days. After the tour, You will be back at your hotel. Overnight in Kusadasi.
