Pamukkale & Ephesus Tour from Istanbul

Day 1: Istanbul to Izmir (L)

We will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport for the Izmir flight. Arriving in Izmir and transfer to your hotel in Kusadası.

Day 2: Ephesus Sightseeing (B, L)

You will meet your tour guide at the hotel.
You will first visit the House of Virgin Mary. We usually spend 45-60 minutes there. Catholic pilgrims visit this place based on their belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this house by Saint John and lived there her final days, until her assumption (according to Catholic doctrine). The House of Virgin Mary was visited by several popes: Pope Paul VI in the ’60s, Pope John-Paul II in the ’80s, and in 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI.
Afterward, there are 15 minutes of driving to Ephesus. During this tour, we will spend around 2 hours walking in Ephesus, where you can see the main points of this site such as The Great Theater and the Celsus Library.
After the Ephesus tour, you will have lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch, we will visit the Temple of Artemis; which is one of the Seven wonders of the ancient world.
There are some workshops in the area; if group members are interested in visiting one of these workshops (pottery or carpet) we may visit one of these places.
Your tour will end in your hotel.

Day 3: Pamukkale to Istanbul (B)

There is three hours driving distance to Pamukkale, so an early pick up is suggested.
After we get to Pamukkale, we will walk through the ruins of ancient Hierapolis.
We will make a short break for taking photos and after that continue walking to the well-preserved Roman theater.
Passing by the Roman baths, we will reach the Ancient Pool where you can spend some of your free time swimming in warm spring water. Instead, you can also choose to spend that time walking barefoot down the Travertines, filled with thermal water enriched with calcium.
We will have lunch before or after visiting Pamukkale.
Transfer to Denizli airport for the Istanbul flight and when you arrive in Istanbul; you will be transferred to your hotel.
