This 5-day adventure safari takes you to Aberdares National Park a high altitude national park set in the central highlands of Kenya and is a part of the Aberdare Mountain Range. It is home to elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white Columbus monkeys, buffaloes, warthogs, and bushbucks among others. Then proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park, located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley bird watchers as the greatest World ornithological spectacle on the Earth because it is one of the locations with the greatest bird spectacle that feeds on the algae thriving in the lake’s warm water. It is famous for the rhino sanctuary (black and white) and home to other wildlife such as buffaloes, giraffes, baboons among others then the Last Stop to the world’s famous reserve – Masai Mara Game Reserve.

🏁 Tour Itinerary: 5 Days Aberdare, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Safari

Days 1: Nairobi – Aberdare National Park (B, L, D)

Distance: 180 km (3 hrs.). Depart Nairobi at 0830hrs. Cross the Kenyan Highlands, through pineapple and coffee plantations, to your “base hotel” in time for lunch at Aberdare Country Club. Afternoon transfer into The Ark Lodge for bird watching and overnight floodlit game viewing from the lodge viewing decks. Ark Lodge, set in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, is a unique tree lodge with a veranda that overlooks a floodlit waterhole and saltlick allowing undisturbed views of wildlife visiting the waterhole. Elephant, rhino, leopard, bushbuck, and occasionally an elusive bongo and giant forest hog have been sighted.
The 60 guest rooms are all en-suite. All cabins have private bathrooms with showers and are comfortably furnished with bedside lamps and carpeted floors to ward off the evening and morning chill. Resembling and named after Noah’s Ark, The Ark Tree Lodge is designed with ‘decks’ from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for game viewing. A ground-level bunker provides excellent photographic opportunities and takes you closer than you would believe possible to the wildlife.

Day 2: Aberdare National Park – Lake Nakuru National Park (B, L, D)

Today we travel to the exotic Lake Nakuru National Park located in the Great Rift Valley. After lunch, an exciting game run is planned for the afternoon. The game in this park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant. The Park is home to stunning flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos, which literally turn the lakeshores in to a magnificent pink stretch. The birdlife here is world-renowned and over 400 bird species exist here, White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets, and Marabou Stork. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the white Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara Safari (B, L, D)

After breakfast picks up from your hotel between 7 am- 8:00 am and drive west for Maasai Mara Game Reserve with lunch en-route arriving in time for the evening game drive, upon arrival if time allows you can pass by your Accommodation place and have coffee if time does not allow proceed directly for your evening game drive in Masai Mara game reserve which is Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary. Including Wildebeest Migration and well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. July, August, and September are the months the wildebeest and zebra Migrate from Serengeti to Masai Mara, there is also resident wildlife throughout the year. The famous Maasai tribesmen live within the dispersal area of the game reserve. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Maasai Mara National Reserve Full Day (B, L, D)

After breakfast, your guide will pick you from your Lodge / Camp at 7:45 am or early and proceed on a full-day game viewing within the reserve. The landscape here is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills. The reserve is the best park for game in Kenya as it has an extensive road and track network which allows for close-range viewing of the animals. Break for your picnic lunch at the hippo pool, looking out for hippos and crocodiles. After the evening game drive optional visit the Masai Village at an extra fee payable direct. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 5: Masai Mara – Drive to Nairobi (B)

Begin today with an early morning game drive followed by a complete English breakfast at your lodge. Depart for Nairobi with a game drive en-route.
