Itinerary

Stop 1

The Great Buddha of Kamakura is a monumental outdoor bronze statue of Amida Buddha, standing at approximately 43 feet (13 meters) tall. Originally cast in 1252, the statue has withstood the test of time and remains a symbol of Japanese Buddhism and cultural heritage.

Stop 2

Dedicated to the deity Inari, associated with rice, prosperity, and foxes in Japanese mythology, the shrine is characterized by its red torii gates that form a tunnel-like pathway leading to the main hall. Fox statues, believed to be messengers of Inari, are also present in the shrine grounds.

Stop 3

The temple provides a unique and tranquil experience, with the bamboo creating a soothing atmosphere, making it a favored destination for those seeking a break from the bustling pace of urban life.

Stop 4

Is a historic Buddhist temple renowned for its significant cultural and religious heritage. Officially known as Kaikozan Jishoin Hase-dera, the temple is dedicated to the goddess Kannon, the bodhisattva of compassion. Can also enjoy the temple's beautiful garden, seasonal flowers, and stunning views of the surrounding area.

Stop 5

The shrine is dedicated to Hachiman, the Shinto god of war and the patron deity of the Minamoto samurai clan.
Notable features include its iconic red torii gate, a large wooden bridge, and a historic pond.

It is considered the oldest Zen training monastery in Japan. Kencho-ji is part of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism.

The temple complex features several important structures, including the Dharma Hall (Hatto), the Main Hall (Butsuden), and the Hojo, the former abbot's living quarters. Kencho-ji is renowned for its picturesque garden, designed by the famous Zen monk and garden designer Muso Soseki.
