Why we love it?

This day trip from Chiang Mai offers a chance to explore the ancient city of Wiang Kum Kam, abandoned over 700 years ago, where you’ll travel by horse-drawn carriage through temple ruins including Wat Phraya Meng Rai, Wat Kan Thom, Koo Paa Dom, and the five-tiered Wat Chedi Liam, known for its Mon Haripunchai architectural style. The tour also visits Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai’s oldest temple, where you can admire its architecture, Buddha statues, and relics from the Lanna Kingdom inside the main wihan. The experience begins with a hotel pick-up and includes time at the Chiang Mai City Arts and Cultural Centre to learn about the city’s heritage. Admission to Wiang Kum Kam is not included, but the horse-drawn carriage ride offers a unique way to see the site’s historic temples and ruins.
