Itinerary
Step 1
Samaria Long Way Option
We start our adventurous hike in the heart of the White Mountains, at an altitude of 1230 m and walk down the gorge through a mountain area, one of the nicest, the most impressive mountain areas in our country. At the beginning we walk through a beautiful forest with thousands of years old trees, over rocks and stones, following a little river and its fresh-water springs. With
the length of 16 km the gorge of Samaria is officially one of the longest gorges in Europe. There live in the wild the last Cretan mountain goats, called “Kri-Kri”.
The walk is partially very difficult and requires approximately 5-6 hours. You need absolutely good shoes, mountain-boots or, at least, strong trainers.
