Itinerary

Harry Potter Train and the Scenic Highlands

Our Jacobite Steam Train tour departs from Inverness, starting with a journey along the world-famous Loch Ness and stopping for photos above the ruins of Urquhart Castle. We continue south and visit the Commando Memorial which overlooks the Nevis Range, home to the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Next, it’s time to set your sights upon the Jacobite Steam Train and hop aboard the train at Fort William.

Your journey through magnificent landscapes will end in the fishing port of Mallaig where you can try fresh seafood for lunch or explore the town.

Watch as awe-inspiring scenery unfolds before you as we take the stunning ‘Road to the Isles’ en route to the charming Highland village of Fort Augustus. Here, we get the chance to explore the Caledonian Canal and take a stroll by the shores of Loch Ness. Finally, we visit Dores Beach on the banks of Loch Ness, arriving back into Inverness in the evening.

Please note: we only offer standard class seating on the Jacobite Steam Train, we are unable to offer first class seating or upgrades.

Inverness Departure Point: 15 Union Street, Inverness, IV1 1PP (Across from the entrance to the Victorian Market). Look out for a blue or yellow bus. and check-in at 7:00am for your 7:30am departure.

We are unable to hold the bus or refund for any late arrivals. Return times are approximate and subject to road conditions and weather. Please ensure you allocate sufficient time for any onward travel plans, allowing at least 3 hours after the scheduled return time for connections or activities.

It is not possible to upgrade to first class tickets for the steam train. Everyone is issued a standard class train ticket.

  • It is very important to return to the coach on time at itinerary stops. Your guide will display the time that the bus departson a clock that will be visible. There are no maximum age restrictions. 
  • Collapsible wheelchairs can be accommodated providing the passenger is accompanied by someone who can assist them to board and disembark. 
  • Students must hold a valid ISIC/ISE/ITIC card
  • Full refund if cancelled at least 48 hours in advance.
  • A cancellation made less than 48 hours will incur a 100% fee.
