Itinerary

Day 1

– Arrive to Kuraburi (-) Pre‐trip briefing at the office. Walk the evening market Overnight in local Kuraburi Resort (dinner not include)

Day 2

– Moken Village Visit (B, L, D)

  • – Moken Village Visit (B, L, D) Breakfast at the local market with your translator Transfer to Surin island by speedboat and check into your tent accommodation at the National Park Head Quarters Meet your Moken local guide and take a long tail boat to the Moken village Explore the village and learn the intricate relationship between the Moken and their surrounding environment. Talk about the brightly colored ‘’Spirit Poles’’ and Moken homes, built on wooden stilts directly on the beach Handicraft Workshop‐ Learn the traditional art of Moken weaving. Use forest Pandanus leaves to weave a natural bracelet. Keep it as a souvenir Packed lunch in the Moken Village Forest hike‐ Your guide will highlight useful plants, including medicinal herbs, edible species, and those used in construction of traditional houseboats and houses Snorkeling‐ The Moken guide will take you to a wonderland of colorful tropical fish Return to National Park Headquarters and relax Dinner at the national park restaurant Overnight: Koh Surin National Park, tents on the beach with bedding provided; electricity generated from 6-10 pm.

Day 3

– Life of the Sea Gypsies (B, L, D)

  • – Life of the Sea Gypsies (B, L, D) Breakfast at the park headquarters restaurant Snorkeling‐ Enjoy the clear waters and watch as your Moken guide spots sea turtles swimming in the waters Snorkeling with your Moken guide or return to the village to spend more time with your new friends Return to the park headquarters, enjoy free time to walk the beach, relax, and enjoy the sunset Dinner at the headquarter restaurant Overnight: Koh Surin National Park, tents on the beach with bedding provided; electricity generated from 6-10 pm.

Day 4

– Mythology of the Moken (B, L,)

    – Mythology of the Moken (B, L,) Breakfast at the park headquarters restaurant In the Moken village, try your hand at rowing a Moken ‘’rowboat’’ and re‐enacting their method of spear fishing (you do not spear real/living fish) Spend more time in village or head out for one more snorke exploration After lunch, transfer to office for debriefing Moken Music‐ Listen to beautiful songs that tell stories and the history of the Moken people.
