Itinerary

Day 1

    HANOI ARRIVAL - HALF DAY CITY TOUR Upon arrival in Hanoi, be met by our car driver (no guide escort) and be transferred to the hotel for check in. In the afternoon, you will visit the Museum of Ethnology and then drive back to central Hanoi for a 45-min cyclo tour through the famed Old Quarter known for its ‘36 streets of 36 wares’ named after the original 36 artisan guilds that date as far back as the 13th century. Then stop at a vintage coffee shop, where you sit on very small chairs as is the special style of Hanoi, to start a day by tasting a cup of Vietnamese coffee. This also offers a perfect opportunity for people-watching, to get a better idea of the daily activities of the locals. Conclude the day by watching an entertaining water puppet performance, a uniquely northern Vietnamese art form said to have originated in the flooded rice fields of the Red River Delta. The show uses colourful wooden puppets to depict scenes of rural life and episodes of national history set to music. Overnight in Hanoi. Please note: the standard check in time is 14:00 – 15:00pm. Day 2

    HANOI - NINH BINH - TAM COC - MUA CAVE (B/L) Within the complex, visit Vietnam’s ancient capital of Hoa Lu, the country’s first centralized feudal state from the end of the 10th century. While the ancient citadel has largely disappeared, the temples of the Dinh and Le dynasties still stand surrounded by rice paddies. After lunch Continue to Tam Coc, known as “Halong Bay on Land”, where a skilled rower will take you on a slow journey on the winding river and canals. Enjoy the views of the beautiful karst formations as you enter three of the many natural caves formed under the hills. Upon arrival, guests board a cruise, enjoy a welcome drink, and receive a short briefing about the itinerary and safety guidelines. The cruise then sets sail into the bay, offering stunning views of the seascape. Throughout the day, guests will participate in various onboard activities or simply relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Early morning is truly a magical time on the bay as the limestone karsts appear all around you in different shapes, sizes and colours. Continue sailing through magnificent Ha Long Bay. Enjoy a brunch on board before arriving at Ha Long City Pier at noon where transportation will be waiting for and drive back to Hanoi for your onward flight to Ho Chi Minh. The Cu Chi Tunnels consist of more than 200 km of underground tunnels, connecting to underground hideouts, shelters, and entrances to other tunnels including innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers, and kitchens. Please note: The live ammunition shooting service is not included in this tour. Today, the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and a feel of what underground life was like during the U.S.-Vietnam War. You will be able to discover the tunnel systems and learn about this part of Vietnam's past. Afternoon, start your city tour with a visit to the War Remnants Museum to gain deeper insight into Vietnam’s history and the impact of the Vietnam War. Continue to the historic Reunification Palace, a significant landmark marking the end of the war. With a boat trip on Tien River, you will be excited by the light breeze from the river and the natural beauty of four beautiful islands such as Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix and Tortoise along the riverside. Visit the coconut candy workshop and enjoy seasonal delicious fruits & honey tea. Get a chance to listen to Southern Vietnamese folk music which is performed by local people.
