Exploring Paro and Hiking to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

  • Begin your day early with a hearty breakfast before heading out for the hike to one of Bhutan’s most revered and iconic landmarks, the Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Monastery). Start of the Hike: The trail to Tiger’s Nest starts at the base of the mountain, where ponies can be hired for the ascent part of the hike. The hike is generally split into two parts, with a cafeteria situated midway that offers a great view of the monastery and serves as a good spot for a short rest.

Reaching the Viewpoint: The second part of the hike is where the real climb begins, with numerous steps and a path that winds up the cliff, leading directly to the monastery. This part of the trek requires a good level of fitness.
