Day 2

Lahore - Gurdwara Rohri Sahib, Chakki Sahib Aiman Abad Gurdwara Socha Sauda Farooq Abad and Gurdwaras at nankana Sahib

    Gurdwara Sachcha Sauda is situated at a distance of 37 miles from Lahore on the Lahore-Lyallpur Railway Line.

    Guru Nanak as a young man was sent by his father Mehta Kalu, who was hoping to instill a sense of business in his son, to buy some goods which he cold return home with, then sell and make a profit.

    At least that was Mehta Kalu's plan but along the way to his destination, the young Nanak came across some sadhus who were hungry and without food. The Guru to be decided to use the sum his father had given him (a sum of Rs. 20) with which to provide a meal, a langar for the Sadhus. Returning home without any purchases Mehta Kalu was very annoyed. But young Nanak explained to his father that as he saw it he had done a very good deed, feeding the starving Sadhus, and gaining the best profit one could gain from the money. It would not be the last time that Mehta Kalu would worry over his son.

Hassan Abdal Gurdwara Panja Sahib

    Gurdwara Panja Sahib is a gurdwara located in Hasan Abdal, Punjab, Pakistan. The shrine is considered to be particularly important as the handprint of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak, is believed to be imprinted on a boulder at the gurdwara.

    Handprint on the boulder which is believed by Sikhs to be that of Guru Nanak. Guru Nanak along with Bhai Mardana reached Hasan Abdal in Baisakh Samwat 1578 B.K., corresponding to the summer of 1521 CE, when according to Sikh legend, Guru Nanak's handprint was imprinted onto a boulder. The Gurdwara was named Panja Sahib by Hari Singh Nalwa, the most famous general of the Sikh Empire. He is credited with having built the first gurdwara at the site.

  • The Lahore Fort

    The Lahore Fort is a citadel in the city of Lahore in Punjab, Pakistan. The fortress is located at the northern end of Walled city of Lahore and spreads over an area greater than 49 acres. The Lahore Fort is notable for having been almost entirely rebuilt in the 17th century, when the Mughal Empire was at the height of its splendor and opulence.

    The first record of a fortified structure at the site was regarding an 11th-century mudbrick fort.The foundations of the modern Lahore Fort date to 1566 during the reign of Emperor Akbar, Additions from the Shah Jahan period are characterized by luxurious marble with inlaid Persian floral designs, while the fort's grand and iconic Alamgiri Gate was constructed by the last of the great Mughal emperors, Aurangzeb, and faces the renowned Badshahi Mosque.

    After the fall of the Mughal Empire, Lahore Fort was used as the residence of Emperor Ranjit Singh, founder of the Sikh Empire. The Sikhs made several additions to the fort.

Darbar Sahib Kartarpur Narowal

  • Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, also called Kartarpur Sahib, located in Narowal District. Guru Nanak, settled here and assembled the Sikh community and lived until his death in 1539. It is one of the holiest sites in Sikhism, alongside the Golden Temple Janam Asthan. The shrine is visible from the Indian side of the border. Indian Sikhs gather in large numbers on bluffs to perform darshan, or sacred viewing of the site, from the Indian side of the border. The Kartarpur Corridor was opened by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on 9 November 2019, just days before the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak. This historic moment officially allowed Indian Sikh pilgrims visa-free access in Pakistan also claimed to be the largest gurdwara in the world.
