    Kuruwita-Erathna route to Adam’s Peak: (12km)

The Adams peak trail except in certain place is an intense and continuous climb. The trail follows through forests and abandoned Tea fields therefore its broader though note that except in most difficult of places steps aren’t available. Passing “waranagala” one could see the Waranagala falls which best seen during off season, across the bridge and trail along the right side of the forest which brings you to the rocky bed of the water fall and several inviting water pools.

As you walk along you’ll pass the “Ambalama” or the resting place at “seethagangula” meaning icy-river a great place to chill but mind you the water is VERY chilly! From here the forest thickens till you get to the Medahinna Temple a Buddhist shrine. Around 09km or so from the starting point you’ll find the next resting point known as “Idikatupana” a great place to witness the sunset. Further on you’ll join up with another trail leading from Ratnapura town at “Galwangediya” resting point. From here the trail joins up with the Hatton-Maskeliya route and proceeds to the summit together.

We set off early from Colombo, and the drive to the base of Adam’s Peak was quite the adventure in itself, with stunning views of Sri Lanka’s lush landscape along the way. The trek was challenging but invigorating, and we found ourselves surrounded by fellow adventurers all eager to catch the sunrise together. Reaching the summit just as dawn broke was a breathtaking moment, with vibrant colors painting the sky and the peaceful atmosphere making it all the more special. The guide was knowledgeable and kept us motivated throughout the climb, but a little more organization with the transportation back would enhance the experience. Overall, it was a fantastic way to blend business with a bit of unforgettable nature.

We embarked on a journey that took us through lush landscapes, leading to a stunning vantage point just in time for sunrise. The views were simply breathtaking, with the soft glow illuminating the surrounding hills as we caught our breath at the summit. If there’s one suggestion we’d make, it would be to add a bit more time for rest along the trek, as the path can be steep and a bit taxing at times.

The early morning journey was a rewarding challenge that tested my endurance while offering moments of reflection amidst the serene landscapes. As I climbed, the air gradually shifted from cool to vibrant with the promise of a new day, and the chatter of fellow trekkers created a sense of camaraderie. Reaching the summit just before sunrise felt like discovering a hidden treasure, as hues of orange and pink stretched across the sky, painting a breathtaking backdrop for the shimmering lake below. I found the cultural significance of the site fascinating, with locals making their way up to engage in spiritual practices, which added depth to the experience. I would have appreciated a bit more guidance on the best routes, as I occasionally felt slightly uncertain about where to go. Nevertheless, this adventure left me with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty and spiritual heritage of the region. Overall, I would highly recommend this trek to anyone seeking both physical challenge and spiritual enrichment.
