About This Tour

Discover the very best of New Zealand’s Coromandel Peninsula on this unforgettable 2-day journey. From rugged coastlines and historic towns to forest adventures and natural wonders, this tour offers an inspiring mix of scenery, culture, and adrenaline.

Day 1: Auckland → Thames → Whitianga

Coastal Drives, Charming Towns & Forest Adventures

Depart Auckland and begin your adventure with a scenic drive along the Firth of Thames, tracing New Zealand’s spectacular western coast. This route forms part of a loop where you'll experience the West, North, and East coasts—each with its own breathtaking views.

Stop for lunch in a quaint Coromandel township, a place that feels like stepping back in time with its laid-back charm and local cafés.

Next, climb aboard the Driving Creek Railway, New Zealand’s only mountain railway. Journey through regenerating native forest, crossing 10 bridges and 3 tunnels, before arriving at the spectacular lookout platform known as the “Eyefull Tower.”

Then, take to the treetops with an eco-zipline adventure, soaring through the forest canopy on eight thrilling ziplines, including one stretching 200 meters.

End the day in the relaxed coastal town of Whitianga, steeped in history. This is where Captain James Cook anchored the HMS Endeavour in 1769, leaving a legacy that lives on at nearby Cook’s Beach.

Day 2: Whitianga → Cathedral Cove → Auckland

Iconic Beaches, Ancient Forests & Artistic Gardens

After breakfast, head to the famous Cathedral Cove, where stunning rock archways and golden sands await. Capture one of New Zealand’s most iconic landscapes and soak in the serene surroundings.

Next, experience the natural wonder of Hot Water Beach, where you can dig your own hot pool in the sand and relax in the geothermal warmth.

Enjoy a true local experience with lunch at the Coroglen Tavern, a rustic and legendary Kiwi pub with heart and history.

After lunch, delve into ancient New Zealand with a visit to see one of the Coromandel’s largest and oldest Kauri trees, estimated to be over 1,200 years old.

Continue on to the Rapaura Water Gardens, a peaceful oasis of lily ponds, native bush, and trickling waterfalls. Then, conclude your exploration at the Mahara Sculpture Park and Pottery, where art blends beautifully into the natural surroundings.

Return to Auckland in the evening with unforgettable memories of coastal beauty, cultural heritage, and outdoor adventure.
