Day 1

Only a 20-minute drive from Fier are the Ardenica hills, famous for the Monastery of the Nativity of the Theotokos and many breathtaking landscapes. A pagan temple dedicated to the goddess Artemis had existed where the Monastery sits now, which explains the origin of the name Ardenica. The most interesting historical event recorded in Ardenica is Skanderbeg’s wedding to his lifelong wife Donika, hosted on April of 1451 at the Chapel of St. Trinity Church, the monastery’s very first church, built in the 10th century.

Our recent adventure exploring the stunning landscapes and vibrant wildlife exceeded our expectations in many ways. Each day offered breathtaking views and thrilling encounters, from the majestic elephants to the elusive big cats, all while enjoying delicious local cuisine that truly showcased the flavors of the region. However, we did encounter slight delays during some of the game drives which, while not a huge issue, occasionally cut into our time spent viewing animals. The accommodations were comfortable and well-located, allowing us to unwind after our busy days. Overall, this journey was a fantastic blend of nature and relaxation that we would happily recommend to fellow travelers.

From stunning wildlife encounters to breathtaking landscapes, our trip exceeded expectations in many ways. The only hiccup was a couple of long drives, which made some meals feel a bit rushed, but the experience of being so close to nature more than made up for it.

We immersed ourselves in the spectacular landscapes of Tanzania, marveling at the diverse wildlife across Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti. While the food was generally tasty, we occasionally wished for more variety during meals.

Experiencing the wildlife in Tarangire and the breathtaking landscapes of Ngorongoro and Serengeti was absolutely unforgettable; I felt like I was living in a nature documentary. While the accommodations were mostly comfortable, I did encounter a few less-than-ideal nights, but the stunning game drives made it all worthwhile.
