One Day Silk Weaving Center and Hidden Valley Village Visit
This full day tour takes you to some destinations. The time in each destination can be flexible as your request as soon as it doesn’t affect the whole plan.
At the departure time, you will be greeted and picked up at your hotel’s lobby by an English speaking tour guide and a driver.
You will be firstly transferred to the suburb areas of Luang Prabang. Here, you are going to visit the beautiful weaving center, Ock Pop Tok. You will stroll around this village to see the real silk weaving process which is “starting with the caterpillar, finishing with the scarf”. It must be an interesting experience that you should have there. Besides, you can buy some silk products as souvenirs for your relatives and friends.
After that, you will stop by the Mekong River, relax, have a fresh cup of coffee or tea and enjoy the peaceful view over the river.
Then, you continue driving to Ban Houy Thong which is about 300 meters higher than Luang Prabang. Here you can enjoy a stunning view over the valley. Your next destination is the Khmu ethnic village where you can not only enjoy the beauty of nature but also daily life of the locals. You will take a short walk (about 1.5 hour) through beautiful rice fields and lush jungle forests. You will explore these areas with the support of the English speaking guide. He/she will give you general information about farming activities and lifestyle in the countryside. After this short walk, you will enjoy a short rest with a fruit-refreshment.
In the afternoon, after lunch provided in a small resort, you can enjoy yourself with a refreshing swimming in a beautiful outdoor swimming pool. Then, it’s optional that you either stat at the resort to relax and then head back to Luang Prabang, or hike up to a viewpoint before returning to Luang Prabang. The tour ends when you arrive at Luang Prabang.

Exploring the art of silk weaving while surrounded by the stunning landscape was a delightful highlight for our family. We particularly loved the hidden valley, where the tranquility allowed us to appreciate the natural beauty of Luang Prabang. A minor drawback was the time spent traveling to the weaving center, which felt a bit lengthy, but the experience made it worthwhile.

Our experience in the scenic hidden valley was captivating, with the vibrant art of silk weaving revealing layers of tradition we hadn’t anticipated. The journey itself provided a delightful escape from our busy schedules, as we were whisked away in a comfortable vehicle that made the trek smooth and enjoyable. While the surroundings were breathtaking, we did find that the day felt a bit rushed, leaving us craving more time to soak in the beauty. The warm hospitality from our guides and the opportunity to engage with local artisans added a richness we truly appreciated. Overall, this day trip was a refreshing diversion, despite our desire for a slower pace to fully absorb the charm of the valley.
