Then you will enjoy the riding of the main cable-car from Harissa to Jounieh where the experienced driver will wait you to continue to your next important visit to byblos.

Starting your 1.5-hour tour of the significant location at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the beautiful Phoenician city of BYBLOS which is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, you will enjoy the walking at the Marina side shedding to the castle and the souk.

Then you will have the option to enter the Crusader castle in Byblos which it was known as the castle of Gibelet, it is adjacent to the Phoenician archaeological site containing the ruins of the Temple of Baalat Gebal and the Temple of the Obelisks. The castle was built by the Crusaders in the 12th century from indigenous limestone and the remains of Roman structures. The finished structure was surrounded by a moat. It belonged to the Genoese Embriaco family, whose members were the Lords of Gibelet. Saladin captured the town and castle in 1188 and partially dismantled the walls in 1190. Later, the Crusaders recaptured Byblos and rebuilt the fortifications of the castle in 1197. In 1369, the castle had to fend off an attack from Cypriot vessels from Famagusta. The Byblos Castle has distinguished historical buildings for neighbors. Nearby stand a few Egyptian temples, the Phoenician royal necropolis and the Roman amphitheatre.

Exploring Jeita Grotto was a surreal experience; its majestic formations truly felt like stepping into another world. While the visit to Byblos was fascinating, I wish I had a bit more time to soak in its historic charm.

Stepping into the hidden treasures of this beautiful region was an unforgettable experience. The semi-private setup allowed for a relaxed atmosphere, and I really appreciated the small group size, which made interactions with the guide feel personal. The grotto was simply breathtaking, a natural wonder that surpassed my expectations, while the vibrant atmosphere of the coastal city offered a delightful mix of history and culture.

However, I did find the transportation a bit cramped at times, which made the longer drives somewhat less enjoyable. Still, the views during the rides were stunning, and I could hardly complain when surrounded by such beauty. Overall, I left feeling enriched and inspired, eager to share stories of my day exploring some of Lebanon’s most iconic sites.
