Day 1 Small-Group City Tour of Santiago

Visiting the highlights of Santiago includes a visit to the main tourist attractions. Santiago is a mixture between the old and the modern features that we invite you to know.

Our tour through Santiago will show the immensity of the city, its varied geography and civility. We will guide you through the Main Square of Santiago, where the Cathedral, Main Post Office and City Hall are located. You will be told about the origins of our city. Next stop is the civic neighborhood and the surroundings of La Moneda Government Palace. After that we will be driven through some of the commercial street of Santiago, towards Santa Lucia Hill.

Later we will visit the eastern part of the city and we will see the modern buildings and the changes that they have brought to the neighborhood. We finish our tour in a handicraft market, Los Dominicos” located in an exclusive neighborhood,
The Plaza de Armas of Santiago is considered the heart of the capital of Chile, marking the milestone known as Kilómetro Cero, from which the distance between the different cities of the country begins to be measured.

In its surroundings, emblematic buildings converge, symbol of the city's origin and witnesses of its development over four centuries.

Visitors can find on the Square painters who day by day display their art; historical photographers who use old drawer machines; or street comedians who attract the attention of passers-by.
One of the squares that frames the environment of the Palacio de La Moneda, becoming an icon of civility and a center of civic life.

It´s located on the grounds of the old headquarters of the Ministry of War and acquired its current design in 1984, when it was remodeled.

The statues of the Presidents of the Republic, Jorge Alessandri Rodríguez, Eduardo Frei Montalva and Salvador Allende Gossens, are placed there as prominent protagonists of the history of Chile.
It is the seat of the Executive Power and one of the most representative symbols of the political history of the country.

Designed by the architect Joaquín Toesca, this palace is the main work of neoclassicism in Chile.

It became the scene of one of the most decisive events in the history of Chile, as was the bombing that it suffered in 1973. After that fact, a group of architects restored it, keeping the original lines designed by Toesca.

It was declared a National Monument in 1951.
Cerro Santa Lucia is one of the most visited public parks by national and foreign tourists, being one of the most recognizable icons of the capital and the country.

It is a silent witness of the development that the city of Santiago has had since the arrival of the Spanish conquerors in the Mapocho Valley in 1540.

Exploring the vibrant streets of Santiago alongside our friends truly enriched our experience in Chile. Each day was filled with fascinating cultural insights, from the lively markets to the historical landmarks, which gave us a deeper appreciation for the city’s rich heritage. Our visit to the Concha y Toro winery was a highlight, where we enjoyed both exquisite wines and the stunning vineyard views that felt like a slice of paradise. Overnight stays allowed us to soak in the local atmosphere, but we wished there had been a bit more time to relax and explore on our own. Overall, it was a delightful adventure that combined the best of city life with the beauty of the countryside.

During my solo trip, I found the blend of city exploration and vineyard experience in Santiago to be quite well-balanced. The accommodations were comfortable and conveniently located, allowing me easy access to both the bustling urban scene and the serene countryside. I appreciated the informative guides who shared insights into Chile’s rich culture and history, particularly during the visit to the Concha y Toro winery where I savored some lovely wines. One suggestion would be to offer a bit more time at the winery itself, as it felt slightly rushed. Overall, this journey left me with wonderful memories and a deeper appreciation for the region.

Each morning began with a delicious breakfast before we set off to explore iconic neighborhoods, where we were drawn in by the vibrant local art and friendly faces. The highlight of our trip was definitely the visit to the renowned winery, where we learned about the fascinating winemaking process and enjoyed sampling some exquisite vintages.

One evening, we enjoyed a leisurely dinner at a charming local restaurant, savoring traditional dishes that left our taste buds dancing. The accommodations were comfortable and conveniently located, allowing us to soak in the sights without feeling rushed. While the itinerary was well-planned, we would have appreciated a bit more time at the winery to fully absorb the serene atmosphere. I had an amazing time indulging in the local cuisine while touring the city and discovering its vibrant culture. The winery experience offered a delightful taste of Chile’s best wines, but I would have appreciated a bit more time to explore the vineyard itself.
