Great way to visit best places on the way from Riga to Vilnius in just one day. There is a surprising variety of culture and architectural style between both countries. Start your day at 8:00 with a private minivan pick up from your hotel. It will be around 1 hour long drive through Riga and countryside. The first short stop is in Bauska castle which represents military architecture in time period from 15th until 17th century. Just few kilometers away from Bauska castle is located Rundale Palace. This magnificent Palace was built as a Summer residence in two periods from 1736 until 1740 and from 1764 until 1786. After visiting Rundale Palace you will spend another hour on the road while driving through countryside of Lithuania. During the trip you will Cross the Latvian-Lithuanian border. No passport control is required since 2007. Next stop is planned at Hill of Crosses. Last but not least place to visit will be Trakai Island castle. Castle is located on the lake Galve. It is very beautiful place with many activities to do in Summer period. After visiting this place you have options to return back to Riga or drop off at Vilnius hotel.
