we will cross part of the national park of Talassemtane. This 589.5-square-kilometre park was created in October 2004 to conserve the last of Morocco’s threatened fir forests.

The park also contains other plant species endemic to the Spanish/Maghrebi biodiversity hotspot such as the endangered Atlas cedar and Andalusian Belladonna Atropa baetica. The Bearded vulture and over 100 other birds have been observed at the park.

Talassemtane is part of the Transcontinental Biosphere Reserve of the Mediterranean.
The park's proximity to the popular tourist destination, Chefchaouen makes it a common hiking destination. The park's elevation ranges from 350 meters to 1,050 meters.

Our group had an incredible time exploring the stunning landscapes, with the valley’s vibrant hues painting a perfect backdrop for our hike. The traditional Moroccan lunch was a delightful highlight, offering an authentic taste of local cuisine that we savored amidst the serene surroundings. While the trail was occasionally challenging, the breathtaking views and overall experience made every step worth it.

We were excited for a day of hiking in the Rif Valley, and the experience largely met our expectations with stunning views and a nice pace. The traditional Moroccan lunch we enjoyed in a scenic spot added a great touch, really showcasing the local flavors. However, the guide’s pace felt a bit rushed at times, which took away from soaking in some of the beautiful moments along the trail.

Our family had a fantastic time exploring the stunning Rif Valley, surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes and vibrant colors that Chefchaouen is known for. The hike was a perfect blend of adventure and serenity; we loved the moment when we reached a viewpoint overlooking the valley—it was absolutely mesmerizing! After working up an appetite, enjoying a traditional Moroccan lunch prepared by a local family was a highlight, although we found the portion sizes a bit modest for our hungry crew. Overall, it was a memorable day that combined outdoor fun with cultural immersion, making it a worthwhile experience for us.
