Tour description
After being picked up by a private guide from your acommodation or its closest bus stop in the Reykjavik Capital Area, you will begin this journey. Drive over the biggest volcano in Iceland, listen to stories and enjoy the beautiful nature in Iceland, while you drive to the first stop.
Seljalandsfoss is the first location. The water in this waterfall runs from Icelands' most famous volcano, Eyjafjallajökull glacier. This is the waterfall you can walk behind and sometimes see rainbows on sunny days.
Skógafoss is the next stop. You will not see a more ideal waterfall! This is without a doubt one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland and in many minds the greatest one. It has a great treasure hidden behind it and a walking trail up to the top of the waterfall.
Katla ice cave is hidden beneath the Mýrdalsjökull glacier by Iceland's most powerful volcano Katla.
Reynisfjara black sand beach is the last stop. There you can see the troll out in the ocean towing a 3 mast ship to shore . You can see basalt rocks in the cliffs by the beach and an old island.

We had an incredible day exploring the stunning landscapes of Mýrdalshreppur in Iceland, with the highlight being our time in the Katla ice cave. The feeling of stepping into the cool, blue ice was surreal, and we couldn’t help but snap countless photos. Our guide was friendly and shared fascinating stories about the glacier and the region, which added so much depth to our experience.
One minor drawback was the weather; it got a bit unpredictable, making parts of the coast less enjoyable. However, the dramatic scenery of the south coast still took our breath away, especially when we visited the iconic black sand beaches. It was a long day, but every moment felt worthwhile as we soaked up the beauty of this unique part of Iceland.

The journey along the rugged coastline was nothing short of breathtaking, with each vista more stunning than the last. Venturing inside the ice cave was a surreal experience; the colors and formations left me in awe of nature’s artistry. While the guide was knowledgeable and engaging, the pace felt a bit rushed at times, making it hard to soak in every moment fully.

Our adventure exploring the icy expanse of Mýrdalshreppur was a memorable experience, particularly as we ventured into the mysterious depths of the Katla ice cave. The vast landscapes we traversed, with sweeping views of the southern coast, left us utterly awestruck, and the sense of camaraderie within our group made it even more special. One of the standout moments was pausing to witness the stunning contrast of the black volcanic sands against the brilliant white ice—a sight that will be etched in our minds forever.
Although our guide was enthusiastic and provided insightful information, there were moments when we wished for a bit more time to linger at certain breathtaking spots. The private nature of the tour allowed us to tailor our experience, which we greatly appreciated, yet we found ourselves wishing it could have been just a little longer to fully soak in the beauty around us. Overall, this day was a perfect blend of adventure and stunning natural beauty, making it an unforgettable highlight of our trip.
