Oedo-Botania is a marine botanical garden located in Hallyeo Maritime National Park, which has a beautiful view of the crystal blue South Sea and surrounding landscape. It is 4 kilometers away from Geojedo Island. About 20 minutes by ship from Gujora Port, past Naedo Island lies the European-like Oedo Island. In 1969, Lee Chang-ho first came to this island to escape from the wind and waves as he was fishing. He and his wife created this breathtaking landscape with all the care for 30 years.
In April, the island is covered with a plethora of flowers. The Venus Garden displays twelve sculptures and a western-style garden. At Paradise Lounge, one can enjoy the sunshine and the sea while drinking beverages. Camellias and various kinds of rare flowers from all over the world can be found in Oedo. When coming down the 'Stairway to Heaven,' visitors can view the beautiful garden and the ocean in the background. Magnificent terrace landscaping line both sides of the stairway. Oedo Paradise Island is without a doubt, a true paradise.
As one of the best sights in Geojedo Island, Geoje Haegeumgang River is called the Geumgang River (Sea Diamond) of the South Sea. As a rock island, Haegeumgang River belongs to Hallyeo Marine National Park, which is assigned as an official green area in South Korea. Its original name was Galgotdo, because it is shaped like the spreading roots of arrowroot. These days it is known as Haegeumgang River, meaning Geumgangsan Mountain in the sea.
The most stunning scenery of Haegeumgang River is the sunset and sunrise and can be best viewed on Ilwollbong Peak or Lion Rock. There is Shipjagul Cave in the center of Haegeumgang River, which is 100m long from east to west and 180m long from south to north

As a solo traveler, I was drawn to the opportunity to explore a blend of history, nature, and vibrant culture over four days. Each destination offered a unique charm; wandering through ancient sites was a highlight, and the peaceful gardens of the island were a welcome escape from the usual hustle. The private aspect of the tour allowed for a personalized experience, and my guide was incredibly knowledgeable, making the journey through diverse landscapes even more engaging.
However, I did find some of the travel times between locations a bit lengthy, which occasionally cut into exploration hours. The cozy accommodations provided a nice rest after full days of activity, allowing me to recharge for the next adventure. Overall, I appreciated the balance of sightseeing and leisure, making this trip a memorable experience in its own right. The opportunity to immerse myself in these various settings was truly a rewarding aspect of the journey.

Our four days exploring the beautiful sites from Busan to Seoul were unforgettable, especially the breathtaking views at Oedo-Botania and the history we soaked up in Gyeongju. We loved the private tour aspect, which allowed us to set our pace and truly dig into the local culture without feeling rushed, though we did wish for a bit more time in Tongyeong. The overnight stays were cozy and added a nice touch to our adventure, making it feel like a real escape with friends.

From the moment I embarked on this adventure, I felt like I was truly diving into the heart of South Korea. Exploring Gyeongju’s rich history and the stunning landscapes of Tongyeong was a highlight, but the serene beauty of Oedo-Botania particularly captivated me. The meals along the way were delightful; I savored fresh seafood in Tongyeong that was just caught that day, which was an experience that truly elevated the trip. However, I found some of the driving times a bit long, which took away from my ability to explore more at each stop. Still, the private nature of the tour allowed me to connect with my guide, who was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the regions I visited. Overall, this journey offered a unique glimpse into the culture and beauty of the area, making it an enriching experience.
