Nuwara Eliya Day Tour: Explore Tea Plantations, Ramboda Falls & Gregory Lake

$250
Duration
11 hours
Difficulty

Your day of sightseeing in the central highlands of Sri Lanka begins with a pick up from your Kandy hotel, where your guide will first take you to see the biggest Buddha in Asia, the Bahiravokanda Vihara Buddha Statue. Head to Katukithula, and learn about tea and tea processing, from picking the leaves at the plantation to rolling, fermentation, and sieving at the Glenloch Tea Factory. You will learn all about tea, sampling different types of leaves that make different types of tea and try a refreshing cup of tea with the option of buying some to take home. You then head to the viewpoint, where you will see breathtaking panoramic views of the city of Kandy. Form there, you will head to Pussellawa to see the famous Ramboda waterfalls, one of Sri Lanka's highest. You could take a short hike up to get closer to the falls (at your own risk!) and take a dip in the water if you wish! You can sample delicious local cuisine at a nearby restaurant before you head to Nuwara Eliya itself to see the famous and beautiful Gregory Lake, giving you stunning views of the mountains at one side and the city on the other. You can take a stroll around the city with your guide to explore the beautiful region at your own pace and even opt to do some adventures such as a short boat ride at the lake (at own expense). It's a relaxing end to the tour before you head back to your hotel in Kandy.

Exploring the stunning waterfalls and the breathtaking glacier hike in Mýrdalshreppur was an unforgettable experience for our group of friends. The private aspect made it feel intimate, allowing us to connect with our guide, who shared fascinating insights about the landscape and Icelandic culture. The hike itself was invigorating, with awe-inspiring views that left us all in silent admiration. One small drawback was the weather; it was a bit windy, which made some parts of the hike challenging, but it also added to the adventure. Overall, this day filled with natural wonders along the south coast was truly a highlight of our trip!

We had an incredible time on our private adventure along the south coast, where the stunning glaciers and waterfalls truly left us breathless. The hike through Mýrdalshreppur was a perfect mix of challenge and beauty, allowing us to immerse ourselves in Iceland’s unique landscapes. While the transportation was generally smooth, we felt a bit rushed at times, especially at the waterfalls where we wanted to linger longer. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, making sure we had the right gear for the glacier hike. Overall, this experience was a fantastic way to appreciate the natural wonders of Iceland as a couple.

From the moment we set off, the day felt tailor-made for us, highlighting the breathtaking landscapes of Mýrdalshreppur. Walking on the glacier was an exhilarating experience; we loved every moment as our guide shared fascinating insights about the ice formations. The stunning waterfalls we visited afterward were even more captivating than we had imagined, with cascading water that seemed to sing. However, we did wish there had been a bit more time at each location to soak it all in. Overall, it was an unforgettable adventure that beautifully combined nature and exploration.
