Private Reykjavik Walking Tour - Walk with a Viking – your crash course in everything Icelandic.
Your Friend in Reykjavik is just that – your friend in the city. And, as your new friend, our goal is to ensure you have the best time in Reykjavik.
This walking tour is your introduction to Reykjavik. It will help you get your bearings and make the most of your stay in Iceland. We recommend it as your first stop in Reykjavik (well, maybe check into your accommodation and drop your bags off first).
Our family-friendly tour brings the history of Iceland to life with exciting stories and Icelandic mythology. We’ll visit all of the famous landmarks in the city center, such as Hallgrímskirkja Church (we’ll teach you how to pronounce that). But we’ll also share hidden, local spots with you, like our visit to an Elf house. Things you’d surely miss if you didn’t know what to look for.
We want you to feel our quirky little city's unique, friendly atmosphere, not just to see the most popular tourist attractions. We’ll even have a small lesson on the Icelandic language so you can walk with a Viking and talk like one.
We’ll show you our favorite places to eat, drink and visit (we also have an intimate knowledge of happy hour deals that we’re so glad to share).
The tour lasts approximately 2 hours, and it's an easy walk between the places we visit.
We can pick you up at your hotel if it's in the city center of Reykjavik and start this private Reykjavik walking tour from there, or you can meet us at our usual spot at Ingólfur Square, where the route is designed especially for the walk, it's your choice.
Private excursions offer several benefits compared to shared tours:
Customization: With a private tour, you can customize the itinerary to your interests and preferences. You can choose the sights you want to see, the activities you want to do, and the pace you want to travel.
Personalized attention: With a private tour, you have the undivided attention of your guide, who can answer your questions and provide in-depth information about the places you visit. You won't have to compete for attention with other travelers on a shared tour.
Comfort: Private tours typically offer more comfortable transportation options, such as private cars or minivans, rather than shared buses or vans.
Convenience: Private tours allow you to set your own schedule and make last-minute changes as needed. You won't have to worry about coordinating with other travelers or sticking to a predetermined itinerary.
Flexibility: With a private tour, you can change your plans on the fly and spend more time at the places that interest you the most.
Privacy: Some travelers may prefer the privacy and exclusivity of a private tour, especially if traveling with friends or family.
Overall, private tours offer a more personalized and flexible travel experience and the opportunity to customize the tour to your interests and needs.

Exploring Reykjavík in Iceland with a local guide was a delightful experience, allowing us to uncover hidden gems and truly connect with the city’s Viking heritage. The two-hour walking tour was well-paced, though we wished it could have included a few more historical details about some lesser-known sites. Overall, the immersive cultural insights and friendly atmosphere made for a memorable experience that we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We had an amazing time uncovering the secrets of the city with our local Viking guide, who shared both history and humor as we wandered through charming streets. Stopping by the stunning waterfront and hearing the tales behind the iconic landmarks truly brought the place to life for us. While we loved the personalized attention, the pace at times felt a bit rushed, leaving us wishing we could linger a little longer at certain spots.
