Tour Plan

adi Al-Hitan "Whale Valley" is a paleontological site in the Faiyum Governorate of Egypt, some 150 km southwest of Cairo.[1] It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site[2] in July 2005[3] for its hundreds of fossils of some of the earliest forms of whale, the archaeoceti (a now extinct sub-order of whales). The site reveals evidence for the explanation of one of the greatest mysteries of the evolution of whales: the emergence of the whale as an ocean-going mammal from a previous life as a land-based animal. No other place in the world yields the number, concentration and quality of such fossils, as is their accessibility and setting in an attractive and protected landscape.[4] This is why it was added by the UNESCO to the list of protected World Heritage sites.[5] The fossils found at the site may not be the oldest but their great concentration in the area and the degree of their preservation is to the extent that even some stomach contents are intact.

The valley of Wadi El-Rayan is an area of 1759km2, 113km2 of which are the dominating water body of the Wadi El Rayan lakes. It is located about 65km southwest of Faiyum city and 80km west of the Nile River. The Wadi has been used for man-made lakes from agricultural drainage which has made a reserve of the two separate Wadi El Rayan Lakes. The reserve is composed of a 50.90km2 upper lake and a 62.00km2 lower lake, with waterfalls between the two. Among the springs, there are three sulphur springs at the southern side of the lower lake, with extensive mobile sand dunes. Wadi El Rayan Waterfalls are considered to be the largest waterfalls in Egypt. At the south and southeast of the springs is Gabal Manqueer Al Rayan, where marine fossils and archeological remains are found. Gabal Madwera, near the lower lake, is known for its extensive dune formations. In the northwest is Wadi El Hitan, a protectorate containing fossils of extinct whales

We will stop in the watermelon valley to discover the area and take photos, then we will visit the Magic lake and play with the sand board. in the middle of the tour we will have lunch in local restaurant. At the end we will visit Al-rayan valley to take photos near the waterfalls

One of the most beautiful lakes in Egypt, overlooking sand dunes, is the Magic lake. Beautiful lake located in Wadi El Rayan in Fayoum. It was named the Magic lake.

Exploring the hidden gems of Fayoum Oasis was an unexpected highlight of our business trip from Cairo. The private jeep tour felt tailored just for us, allowing a perfect balance of history and adventure; we were particularly captivated by the ancient ruins of Karanis. If there’s room for improvement, a little more time at the picturesque Lake Qarun would have been appreciated, as it was a stunning spot to unwind.

Our family embarked on an unforgettable adventure in a rugged jeep that took us through breathtaking landscapes, revealing unexpected treasures. One of our favorite moments was discovering a serene oasis, where the lush greenery starkly contrasted with the surrounding desert, making it feel like a hidden paradise. We loved the chance to engage with local culture, especially when we shared stories with friendly villagers who welcomed us with warm smiles. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights into the area’s history and ecology that kept us captivated throughout the day. If there’s one small suggestion, it would be to allow a bit more time at the last stop, as we were reluctant to leave such a magical place. Overall, this journey was a remarkable way to bond as a family while uncovering some of Egypt’s lesser-known wonders. We can’t recommend this experience enough for anyone eager to see beyond the usual tourist trails!

Our day in the jeep was absolutely fantastic; we loved bumping down the dusty roads and discovering breathtaking spots that felt off the beaten path. The guide not only shared fascinating tales of the area but also took us to a picturesque oasis where we could dip our toes in the water and take in stunning views. One highlight was definitely the ancient ruins we stumbled upon—those moments felt like real treasures amidst the landscape. If there’s a small improvement to suggest, it might be to allow a little more time at each stop, as we would have loved to linger longer in some places. Overall, we left feeling like we had uncovered some of Egypt’s best-kept secrets together.

Riding through the stunning landscapes in a jeep, I discovered some truly remarkable spots that felt worlds away from the usual tourist hustle. While the experience was fantastic overall, I would have loved a bit more time to connect with the local culture at one of the charming villages I visited.
