El Calafate - Los Glaciares National Park
We arrived at the famous Los Glaciares National Park. The National Park includes a scenario of mountains, lakes and forests, a large portion of the Andes Mountains covered with ice and snow to the west and the arid Patagonian steppe to the east.We will go to Curva de los Suspiros, where we will see the Perito Moreno Glacier for the first time, a beautiful view. Then, we will make another stop in Muelle Bajo Las Sombras for the ones who want to to the boat ride (optional). If you choose the boat ride option, step aboard and sail across the Rico arm of Lake Argentino. Then, have your camera ready as you sail between floating ice close to the majestic 196-foot (60 meter) high front wall. Gaze up at the towering cliffs and watch spellbound as chunks of ice crash into the water — an unforgettable sight. We will continue to the glacier frontal walkways, where we will observe the glacier from various balconies located in different heights allowing us to appreciate it from different perspectives, each one more surprising than the previous one. Follow the boardwalks to strategically placed viewing platforms to witness the glacier from all angles and levels, and admire the surrounding mountain and forest scenery. For close-up views of Perito’s south face, visit the footbridge directly in front of the glacier. Take close-up photos and listen for the eerie creaks that precede the regular calving — when chunks of ice rupture and fall into the lake in a crashing spectacle.
El Calafate
Finally we will have free time to watch the glacier melt. If you want, you can have lunch in some of the restaurants close to the walkways. During the afternoon, we will go back to your hotel in Calafate.

We had an exhilarating day exploring the stunning ice formations and deep blue crevasses—truly a sight to behold. The optional boat ride added an incredible perspective, allowing us to get up close and appreciate the glacier’s grandeur, though we wished it had been a bit longer. While the day was packed with breathtaking views, the bus ride could get a little cramped with our group, but the experience made it all worthwhile!

From the moment we stepped onto the bus, excitement buzzed among our group as we made our way to experience the breathtaking ice formations. As we approached the glacier, we were left in awe of nature’s artistry; walking along the viewing platforms, every crack and roar of the ice felt like a reminder of its powerful presence. We decided to take the optional boat ride, which was absolutely worth it, bringing us even closer to the shimmering blue walls and allowing us to witness calving icebergs up close. One small drawback was the crowds; at times, it felt a bit overwhelming, especially on the platforms. However, the guides were knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about the glacier’s history and ecology, which we really appreciated. Sharing this stunning adventure with friends made it unforgettable, and we left with amazing memories and countless photos to cherish. If you’re up for a day of exploration and awe, this experience is not to be missed!

Exploring the Perito Moreno Glacier was definitely a highlight for our family; standing on that viewing platform, the vast ice formations were more stunning than we anticipated. We opted for the boat ride, which allowed us to get up close to the calving ice, and the roar of the glacier breaking apart was unforgettable. The only hiccup was the wait time for the bus back to El Calafate, but overall, it was a day filled with adventure and unforgettable memories.
