We will begin our trip with a visit to the unique Pig market in Ba Ren, Quang Nam, where the entire market revolves around the sale of pigs. This vibrant market showcases a distinct aspect of local culture and economy. On the way to My Lai, we will visit the Khuong My Towers, remnants of the Champa Kingdom, believed to date back to the first half of the ninth century. We will also visit Nui Thanh Victory Monument, commemorating the historic battle between American forces and the people of Quang Nam in 1965.
Continuing our journey, we will arrive at the My Lai Museum, which documents the tragic events of March 16, 1968. The museum provides a sobering account of the mass murder of civilians during the Vietnam War. As we explore My Lai village, we will have the opportunity to meet local residents, gaining insight into their lives and the impact of the war on their community.
The village is a poignant reminder of the horrors of conflict, as over 300 unarmed civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, were killed by American soldiers during the search for Viet Cong soldiers. This visit encourages reflection on the past and the resilience of the human spirit.

I signed up for a journey that promised a deep dive into a chapter of history that left a mark on humanity, and it certainly delivered. The day was filled with poignant stops that offered a chance to reflect on resilience amidst tragedy, which I found both moving and educational. One of the highlights was a visit to an intimate memorial site where personal stories were shared, and I felt a profound connection to the past—more than I anticipated.
On the downside, the pace felt a bit rushed at times, especially during the discussions, leaving me wishing for more time to soak it all in. The guide was knowledgeable, but I would have appreciated more personal anecdotes to make the experience even richer. Overall, it was an eye-opening experience that balanced exploration with remembrance, and I left feeling both humbled and thoughtful about the journey of healing. Worth every moment, despite the few minor hiccups.

Exploring the haunting history of the My Lai massacre was a profound experience for our family, shedding light on resilience amidst tragedy. We appreciated the guide’s deep knowledge, particularly when we visited the memorial site, which left us reflecting on the importance of memory. However, the long journey back to Da Nang felt a bit tiring, yet it was undeniably worth it for the insights gained along the way.
